Hi I've seen a lot of leaks for the upcoming generals handbook but I haven't really seen anythign for the stormcast eternals extremis chambers. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find leaks or if you could tell me at least what unit is battle line. Thanks

Well to find leaks, the only place I know if just go to your GW store or FLGS if they have a copy. Other than that, Dakka is the place I only know of.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

From looking through it I seem to remember that nothing is battleline, even with Extremis allegiance - making a purely Extremis Chamber army illegal in RAW matched play.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Well that sucks I was hoping to have an army of Dragon riders but I guess that's a no go.

With 3 minimum squads of Liberators at 100 points each and a Lord Celestant on Dracoth at 220 points you'll be able to field upto 12 Desolators/Fulminators/Tempestors (240 points for 2) or 10 Concussors (280 points for 2) in a 2,000 point game.

Which is still not great as those 3 units of liberators have no synergy with the rest. I really don't understand why the Dracoth Cavalery isn't battleline in an Extremis Allegiance. Oh wait, I know, the GHB is all about restrictive gameplay.

I didn't say it was good, just how to get the most Dracoths in a Stormcast Eternal force. Of course a way to get even more Dracoths would be to find the cheapest Order Leader and Battleline units and use the rest of the points for Dracoths.

I'm not criticizing your mock up list, just the fact no dracoth cavalery is battleline. It literally kills themed armies.

It's a bit disappointing that they didn't give the cavalry battleline if your army only consists of Extremis chamber.

I guess they want this faction to be more of an allied force rather than a standalone.

I ran the lightning echelon and a celestant prime on a stardrake in a 2,000 point list...used 3 units of 10 aelf spearmen as batteline...game out to 1940 points

Varanguard are Battleline only if your army is 100% Everchosen units, of which there are only 3: Archaon, Gaunt Summoner, Varanguard.

You're paying 360 points for three Varanguard and the only other models you can take is either Gaunt Summoners or Archaon.

I don't care if it's strong or bad. I care that you can have an Everchosen themed army for tournaments but not an Extremis chamber one.

Haechi has a good point. I am not sure I am a fan of the way Battleline was handled really. One of the employees of my local GW has a themed Dragon Ogre force + friends. The only way it would be a legal army now is for him to use NOTHING but Shaggoths and Dragon Ogres (I.e drop all the "friends" so he can take Dragon Ogres as Battleline). I have told him I would be more than happy to lift the Battleline restrictions in a freindly game. This is sort of covered in the "points only games" section. I would also be happy to play against a sole Extremist chamber in a friendly game too.

I think with Battleline + faction allegiance abilities, GW have actually taken away loads of the creative freedom AoS first offered. It's a lot more restrictive than even the big comps like SCGT - and although Narrative and Open play do exist it feels like the game is now less encouraging to make that cool mix of forces (like the "haunted forest" of Nighthaunt + Sylvaneth someone here was making).

Personally if I was doing that I would be running 3 squads of judicators and the lord celestant on a star drake plus all that cavalry. more points but I think it would be cooler. I am surprised that there is no battleline unit for extremis chamber. I am wondering if some factions however missed out on battleline units because they are designed as allies for other factions OR those battleline units are yet to be released.

I don't have the book yet, but don't you have the option to run Points Only and not use the battleline/alliance restrictions? Seems like they would include that given that the GHB is all about "play your way"

You can pretty much do whatever you want as long as your opponent doesn't care.

However events will likely stick wtih the ghb rules.

A reminder for you people already complaining about the generals handbook is that all the rules in it are completely optional. And also everything within the extremis chamber is incredibly powerful. I would probably want to kill myself if I had to fight a force like that without knowing before hand.

I could say the same about almost any unit, none of the stuff I have been working on would be legal in matched play, yet they are all nice themed forces and in some cases actual battalions. Competitive play = restrictions = limited themes.

Indeed by its nature, restrictions will limit themes. The point of restrictions is to try and keep the game sane and fairly matched.

Some themes just don't allow for matched games very well.

This is where narrative and open play shine. While some themed armies are not meant for matched play the time to pull them out in campaigns or open play.

Yeah that does help, thanks RayRay! (welcome to the forum!)

Cool, thanks!

Was hoping Judicators were battleline. Can make a sweet archer-based army out of that.

Nothing like having battle line units with ranged rend.

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!
