Hey guys, I currently have Netflix and have had it for 5+ years. Now my sister in law has Hulu and is claiming it's better. I like Netflix but Hulu does seem to have newer series more often, but less movies. Is that the case? They're about the same price point, but I really only have need and the cash for one or the other.

Unless you're getting Hulu Plus, you will have to deal with ads, and if you're binge watching the same show, it will be the same set of commercials being played. And yes, Hulu does have a bigger focus for TV shows, while Netflix seems to have more movies. Personally, I prefer Netflix, but Hulu does have its own gems you won't see on Netflix.

I had Hulu Plus for a while, but turned it off. TV shows are pretty bad these days IMO, with some exceptions.

I signed up for a trial of Hulu+, clicked on a show, 30 seconds into the show they interrupted for an ad. Cancelled my free trial of Hulu+ on the spot. Never looked back.

Hulu has a lot of current and past TV shows unavailable on Netflix, but that's really its only plus in my book. Even less of a plus when you count that most current TV shows on Hulu are free to view so long as you don't fall too far behind.
Netflix has a much better interface.
Netflix has better original series.
Most importantly, Netflix has no commercials. Feth commercials.

I didn't mention Amazon Prime, but I have that too. I'd have that even if they didn't have movies or TV shows though. I order a lot of stuff online.

Were it not for Vikings and Man in the high Castle I'd agree with you- but a few of the Amazon Prime gems are pretty awesome. Vikings alone is worth the price of admission. and if you have little ones, they have like 8 seasons of Spongebob on there and Daniel fracking Tiger.
hulu is the place to be for reality TV and current series. For most everything else, Netflix- Prime hasn't found its niche yet, its more of a bonus for free shipping.

I don't watch much TV so HBO Go works quite well for me. I know it isn't Netflix or Hulu but gosh darn it I like it.

Other than keeping out Hulu, we are pretty much a streaming household.
Netflix: $9.99
Amazon Prime: Free (we have Prime because of shipping, subscription service for diapers is where it's at))
HBO Now: $14.95
Playstation Vue: $44.95
Which ends up being a $70 replacement for our $120 cable service we were using before (which also included Netflix). This has the added benefit that our entire TV and Movie watching is fully mobile. We could probably switch to a cheaper Vue plan, but even the most expensive was a lot cheaper than cable, so I just clicked that button without actually looking to see if I need it all.

Hand of God with Ron Pearlman was a pretty awesome first season...andnis only on Amazon.

This. Plus, with their rotational schedule, I was able to "binge" through 2 and a half seasons of Archer, and when I went back a week later to continue watching, I found out rather rudely that it had been taken off of Prime. Automatically Appended Next Post:  d-usa wrote:

This is also similar to us... Yeah Prime is like 70 something per year, but with me being in school, I more than pay for it through shipping. We recently went with PS Vue, mostly because of d-usa's glowing review of it, and a bit of online research.
The only other thing we really have is MLB.tv because Yankees games are ALWAYS out of market for me
