I'm looking for US based companies that sell good miniatures other than Reaper. I've found a lot online but most of them are UK based and shipping is a lot more expensive.

What kind of miniatures? Metal, plastic or resin? Fantasy, steam punk, historical, or SciFi? Scale? Heroic 28MM, regular 28mm, wussy 26mm, 6mm, 54mm? Individual dudes/chicks, space ships, vehicles, horses, artillery? While some of the links are broken, you can find a Metric Lead-Ton of minis here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/373197.page

Yep, the link above is what you want. Also, don't be necessarily be afraid of shipping costs. EM4 and Moonraker miniatures are two UK companies whose prices with shipping are still lower than just about anything in the USA.
And, it would really help to know what kind of figs you're looking for. There's alot of USA companies. Rebel Minis, Recreational Conflict and Old Glory spring to mind, but we've no idea what you're looking for.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

I have a ton of Reaper Miniatures for that purpose. Use the link I provided above. There are tons of fantasy miniatures out there. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/373197.page You can give Neil at The WarStore some business, too. He carries a bunch of miniatures. www.thewarstore.com/

If you like fantasy stuff, I'll reiterate that you need to check out EM4 even though it's out of the country. Also check out Black Tree Designs which has a branch here in the USA. Both companies make fantasy figs with a nice 90's GW'ish fantasy look if you're into oldhammer.
-If you're willing to spend a bit more for a top quality mini, Dark Sword miniatures are absolutely fantastic and also have an interesting variety of subjects, from Game of Thrones (book, not show) minis to a Samurai hamster.
-If you want some figs sculpted by the master himself "Tom Meier" Thunderbolt mountain has incredibly well sculpted figures, mostly in medieval, but also a few other genres. Meier was the main sculptor for Ral Partha and his work of all eras still holds up today.
-Red Box games is another source for excellent figs. They are a touch more realistically proportioned, making them excellent for use in D&D and compatible with GW's LoTR miniatures.
I know you said "anything" but if you could paint any figure what would it be? Give us some of those suggestions and I bet we can find you some cool examples.
If you want some nice modern sculpts to play with but don't want to spend a ton of $, I have the "Everblight" half a Hordes Starter box I'd be willing to part with for a very reasonable price. Some really cool and different monster types there for your D&D/Pathfinder adventures. PM me if you''re interested.

If you want actual full US companies, you have Fantasy Flight Games out of Minnesota, and Cool Mini or Not out of Georgia.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Hyacinth Games offers a great range of metal 28mm post-apocalyptic miniatures, along with resin post- apoc terrain.
Crocodile Games has a unique range of metal fantasy miniatures that depict Egyptian, Greek and Norse mythology.
Slow Death Games has a range of modern models themed around music scenes from the 80's and 90's. These could work great in any modern game or zombie setting.
