So, I got my first sets of the Hobbit plastics this week. I got the Hunter Orcs on Fell Wargs and Warriors of Erebor. I was surprised when I opened them to see no instructions. I know these models are not as complex as GW's 40K and AOS models. But there should have at least been a sheet in there. The Hunter Orcs should be easy enough since there is basically one model per sprue with a few options. The Warriors however are all on one sprue. The pieces do not even seem to be in numerical order with how they assemble. I will have to spend alot of time looking at the pictures to determine what arms go with what bodies. Are all the Hobbit plastic kits like this?

I don't recall having any trouble assembling mine. The ones with hand weapons are either one piece models or two piece with a separate shield. The spear guys are pretty simple to determine - ie, the spear with a hand on it, goes on the dwarf with no hand.

I guess upon closer inspection, I see what you mean. I guess I was just used to there being some kind of sheet showing how to assemble. But yeah, the sprues aren't that bad. I see a that there are only two of the hand weapon guys without complete arms and so I know what they go with. The spears might take a little longer as there are several without both arms.

I just assembled some of the older LOTR dwarf warriors and some dwarf rangers last night. While they were easier to assemble than the Warriors of Erebor and Grim Hammers, I found that they had atrocious mold lines and took forever to clean, while the newer Hobbit plastics have almost none.

Could be due to the age of the molds on the LOTR items. I have some of the dwarf rangers, but I haven't looked close enough at them to determine if they have bad mold lines or not.

It was actually plastics from an older army set - "Wardens of the Westgate" from around 2007. Had 24 warriors, 24 rangers, 8 iron guard, captain, banner, and bolt thrower. The dwarf plastics came out in 2006 so this would have been fairly soon after the plastics were made.
Now that they're cleaned up I'm pretty happy with them, and honestly, Dwarves are pretty spoiled with plastic kits. Warriors, Rangers, Erebor warriors, and Grim Hammers!

Indeed, I just ordered me some Dwarf Warriors, Durin with Mardin, and Young Balin (to go with Erebor Warriors) today. I also scored a three man Iron Guard blister along with a banner and dwarf captain on eBay for about $32. I can't wait to combine dwarven forces.

I'm combining all of mine so I can do the Battle of Dimrill Dale (Battle of Azanulbizar)

Thrain, Thorin, Balin, Dwalin, Dain, Nain (using the LOTR Balin fig), plus 24 grim hammers, 12 warriors of erebor, 24 dwarf warriors, 24 dwarf rangers, 8 iron guard, 1 ballista, a captain, and a banner. i'm toying with some khazad guard too.

on the Orc side I've got an infinite number of normal orcs, wargs, plus 24 Gundabad heavy armored orcs, Azog, and orc captains of various ill-repute

Sweet! I picked up a Gundabad Captain today at my local shop so that I have a hero to go with my Hunter Orcs on Fell Wargs.
