I've been running my 3 x Defender list for a few weeks now with mixed results but overall am quite happy with it

However I have noticed that PS3 is pretty much the same as PS1 against most current lists, so was thinking of dropping the Onyxs to Deltas, and maybe sticking a Stealth Device on, as 4 agility with both a focus and evade due to the go faster title seems like it might be worthwhile, of course the green dice can always betray you but an extra dice is an extra dice, thoughts ?

The last ship is an Ace usually a VI Marek or Vessery with the D title and Tractor Beam

I'd say go for it. If it works then good on you. I'd be wary of being unable to out-maneuver/react to Y-Wings and Z-95s.

Three Deltas with titles and Dark Curse?

I'm not prejudiced, I hate everyone equally

I really like two Glaive Squadron Pilots and the Countess. With them all being PS7 after upgrades it let's them go before most generics and middling aces, or you could run it as three Glaives at PS8, that was how I ran it at first until I took the advice of another poster on here and I haven't looked back.

Well there is that, although at least vs Y-Wings the Defender dial sort of trumps the PS gap, plus Tractor beams luuurve Y-Wings

PS 2 and Predator has become uncommon in some metas, so I think it's safe to downgrade to PS1. It's not like Defenders are very good at re-positioning.

I heard that the K-Turn/Evade or whatever title being used is better than the cannon one because it is more well-rounded than the offensive alternative.

Depends on the Pilot.

Because of Colonel Vessery's ability, for example, he gains a LOT from the TIE/d title (the cannon one).

For generics, I'd probably take the TIE/x7 (evade title) - you can't take any of the really good cannons (deliberately) and whilst tractor beams are amazing they're good on a ship firing first - not last (as a 'filler' generic will be). On a squad of pure generics it might work, but the extra free evade behind 3 agility is hard to top. It's essentially a regenerating extra shield.

Going from Agility 3 to Agility 4 when you get a free evade is pretty close to TIE interceptor territory - meaning you should get pretty decent mileage out of a stealth device.

The other good option is the Twin Ion Engines MkII - if you do need to stress yourself (or get stressed) being able to do a speed 3 bank and still clear stress is not bad at all. Taking Three ships with engines instead of stealth saves you enough points to consider a named pilot - and Countess Ryad is damn good for her points.

I tried Engines on all three but didn't really feel it added much especially on the generics where you try to spend most of the time zooming about at 3+ due to the title . I kept it on the Ace as the 1 and 2 turns are much more useful and having options to ditch the stress other than go forward
seems handy

Still not convinced by the Countess, the ability seems strong on paper but not sure if that translates into table worthyness, I'll give her a spin sometime but for now sticking with Vessery or Marek

Countess is definitely worth her salt. Infinite K-turns with essentially 3 actions a turn with PTL is pretty solid.

I would find the Countess better if she was slightly higher in PS ie 7 or 8

Really depends on how well you can read your opponent's moves and how well they can read yours. The infinite K-Turns can get predictable, and that can get you krumped by an observant opponent.

It never ends well

Indeed. At the same time, she's one of the better "medium pilot skill but really good positional pilot ability" characters* - because she's getting Green, flexible-length K-turns, it's a good ability even if you're not trying to use it reactively.

TIE defenders tend to K-Turn every couple of turns or so anyway - getting a full set of tokens when you do is nice, even if you're just setting up a target lock for a later round

* To my mind:
~ Countess Ryad - probably the best because of the TIE defender titles
~ 'Echo' - his pilot skill - even with Veteran Instincts - isn't quite enough to make Advanced Cloaking Device Work. Decoy is a possible option but a faff to support.
~ 'Zeta Ace' - very mobile with Push The Limit or a great blocker with Intimidation. Not amazing but what did you expect for the price of a T-65 Rookie Pilot?
~ 'Blue Ace' - with BB-8, R7-T1 or R2-D6/Predator. Can't react to higher PS aces but a bloody nightmare to take on with PS1-4 generics.
