Hi everyone, this list is for a kill points tournament rather than a tournament with objectives so I'd like your feedback based on how it could perform that way and how it could be improved to deal with those situations

Kill point values are

So how would that list perform, last 2 campaigns I've won 2 out of 3 games, this time I'm looking to make it a 3/3 victory

Wow! Vehicles are 3 kill points? Vehicles are not very durable these days. Anyway, you're probably giving up an easy kill point with the Pathfinders and I doubt you need them with the Marker Drones and the Ethereal is a risky choice giving up an easy three points. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can take an Allied detachment unless you've first taken a Combined Arms.

I think because it's kill points the ethereal wouldn't provide an extra point? As for the pathfinders, I only took them because I had to, they're more accurate than drones and wouldn't give up 3 points if I took a piranha. As for the allied detachment thing, I'll have to look that one up, you may be right. Do you think there's anything my list is lacking? Like more heavy stuff or less heavy stuff? I'm not sure.

I think you might be better off without the ethereal and the pathfinders. Maybe use a commander with a drone controller to baby sit the drones and give them BS 5? And add a Contingent Headquarters to your Hunter Contingent. He will have one body guard and you can add him to the other squad of drones. Since the Barracuda is both a flyer and a vehicle, would it give up 5 kill points? Maybe consider a Fireblade Cadre in place of the ethereal if you plan to form a gunline?

So what would you recommend for my fast attack choice of the hunter cadre? Just more marker drones?

Also it specifies that the kill points don't stack so because it's a flyer the barracuda would give 2pts and 2pts only

Take the DPods off the Barracuda. Agile means it has a 3+ jink anyway, and it specifically cannot stack to 2+.

Check with the TO on this one. The way it's organised, x number of points for killing x thing, feels like kill points = victory points, in which case your opponent gets 3 for knocking off the Ethereal. I double-checked the Battle-Forged rules and you do need to drop the Allied Detachment because 1. It can't contain your Warlord, so therefore can't be your primary detachment and 2. It can't be the same faction as your primary detachment, which, in this case is the Tau Hunter Contingent. This needs to be reworked into a CAD. Anyway, you asked for a rewrite:

It looks I traded one easy kill point, the Pathfinders, for another, the Drone Net Gun Drones, but you've pigeon-holed yourself a bit by taking a Hunter Contingent. I would either lose the CAD and give up on the Barracuda, so that you can get one of the bulkier auxiliary formations or go straight CAD to trim some unit tax. You lose coordinated firepower, but if you use your markers correctly you should be able to get by without it.

That depends on how dedicated you are to staying "semi-competitive". You could do an Optimized Stealth Cadre with 2x Ghostkeel. I doubt you can fit 3x Ghostkeel in 1250, but you can try. You could also run a Firebase Support Cadre pretty easily at this points level.

If you shift your Hunter Cadre over to a Dawn Blade contingent you can get a Piranha Firestream Wing no problem. If you trim down the Broadsides and Marker Drones a bit, you could also do 3x Riptide in a Riptide Wing.
