Hello!

Am new play i started collecting in March my first army is cult/Skitarii/imperial knight formation. am still building the knight. I got in to this army because i liked the look of it.
i randomly purchase some stuff i did not even know what a codex was. after 2 games some dudes told me about this white dwarf formation. because generally cult and skitarii sucks.
or thats what i was told.

After a few games i start to realize i really don't like the way the army is played or maybe the models stats or what ever.

So am thinking of starting to collect something ells. Normally when i play any game "computer games" i always go for the super tanky, almost overwhelming game play.
that is up in someones face with with crowd control effects. and that can take a punch! or am super defensive person that line long range and has such a firepower that no one will even get to me.

maybe the word is overpowered?

i like the look of =
- Necrons
- Eldar
- Grey knights
- Tau
- orc to some extent mostly the mech.
- chaos daemons

I would like something i could play with my above description and also that can be played against some nasty WAAC comps? i have alot of guys locally that play bike armies and deathstarts i think they are called?

Long rant sorry!

I generally don't want to place space marines because i feel like every one plays them except Grey knights.

Well, if you want the most durable army in the game, go Necrons.

If you want the best gunline army in the game that can also take a decent hit, go Tau.

I'd recommend not starting with Eldar. If you are unfamiliar with how 40k works, it is really easy to accidentally p**s people off with Eldar lists. You need to balance the levels of coolness, fluffiness and combat effectiveness to not get instantly rejected by other players.
Also, they are not the easiest army to put together.

Chaos Daemons are reportedly doing well right now, and they have some kickass models, too

Was thinking of Necrons but alot of people say you are a dick if you play them lol! at the moment i got told Eldars are good with bikes. and that you can buy alot of "starteter kits" to get alot of bikes?

do you go down a road of specific daemons?

With the exception of Orcs and arguably GK, you've basically made a list of the most powerful races, and the way you play Ad Mech is the one way to make them powerful as hell too. If you had thrown in SM instead of GK then you're basically listing the top tier of armies right there.

I'm gonna assume you play in a highly competitive meta?

"You play Necrons? You're such a WAAC douche!"

"Oh, you wanna play Eldar? Make sure you get a lot of bikes!"

I'm so confused right now.

I'm really hoping these are different people saying this. Because if anyone first whines about Necron and then suggests the cheesiest OP build of Eldar then it's gonna be a very whiny Eldar player.

Removed a huge block of text you don't need it.

This is what you need to start your lets krump em all no hold backsies list that will get you into the tournaments and out of your friendly local leagues in no time.

http://bloodofkittens.com/blog/2016/04/07/tits-tournaments-adepticon-2016-top-16-lists/

once you have read that start to ask yourself why these lists are good and start doing your own research. Have fun, but pls never invite me for a pickup game without telling me that you are top net listing, so that I can switch to tripple klawstompa's list or my all flyer list instead of my normal list and don't take the game serious and actually have fun with the game. WAAC vs Crazy Sillyness or other WAAC lists are fun, but they aren't at all fun to play with against the more casual lists.

OP faces a White Scars list using grav bikers. Need help killing them.

Suggestion:

Use Chaos Daemons.

Damn near immune to grav, and can dish out the hurt when played well.

Daemons do well with high end players using builds that don't really look all that crazy on paper. The players are just very good with the army. Tournament winning armies don't always translate well into the hands of a beginner. What if the tournament winning armies were summon spam? That would be terrible for a beginner. Daemons are without contest the most complex and confusing army in the game, which is why so few people play them. You really need to know what you are doing with the rewards tables, and how to not lose to instability, as well as play around bad warp storm rolls. Plus, huge psychic phases are not friendly to beginner play.

It really sounds like OP would enjoy Necrons, tanky, in your face, and long range shooting. Necrons can do all of these at the same time well. D-cult+wraiths will be a super good army, and very easy for a beginner to learn with. No reason to skip on an army that you might love because people dislike it. People dislike whatever beats them, the only armies that are not cheese are the ones that lose.

I just want to say I don't bash on necrons alot of guys where I play do, and am not a tournament player. I mostly paint try to have fun. Even if I lose evenly I have kind of fun. But am getting so rekt every game.

And i have a feeling I picked the wrong army.

Maybe what am looking for is a cookie cutter army/list that works for most stuff. That's defensive but brutal in close combat or at range.

Sadly the only army that does what you are looking for without inspiring instant rage fests is C:SM.

And I hate that book.

And I hate the Ultramarines.

And life sucks when everyone in the 40k playerbase plays Marines over 50% of the time.

I may have a thing.

Necrons do seem to be what your after, but since you're not a tournement player stay away from Decurion builds and it should be all good.

Get a feel for the fluff before you buy though.

That said, a Necron-AdMech tag team has some very fun undertones to it.

Decurion is fine if you're not going overboard with Wraiths.

I agree thats why i am overlooking it! i rather play underdog then buy marines.

I have to buy the codex first i think, what i notice is they have some really kick ass flyer that can transport. hardly no one i see at where i play use flyers. it could be fun!

To be honest i am semi in to fluff i read it briefly so i have some understanding. but i think its because everything is in English and i don't like reading it because am bad at it.

No my child. If you want the MOST overpowered faction you go Space Marines/Space Wolves with allies. Look up a netlist used frequently in the ITC. It's a deathstar that is even wrecking the Eldar. Ever since the Space Marine supplement this year Eldar have been getting slammed around the tables a lot more. Space Marines and their incarnations when built right are beyond the cheese of the Eldar now. Far far beyond.

The most overpowered of the ones he listed is Eldar for sure.
