Is there a way to reliably guarantee First to the Frey for grey Knights? I don't see any HQ that have that as a stock warlord trait so I assume you have to roll for it. Trying to figure out how to make reserves more reliable for deep striking. Obviously can do a coms relay on a ADL. Any other ideas? I'm Allying with DA for belial so could also take azrael. But that's an expensive model for just wanting that +1 to the reserve roll. You do also get the +1 to sieze so that's good to.

If Mordrak was a thing still he would be the HQ that would have it. Other than that we need to roll for that trait.

As for other ways of having a better chance for turn 1 deepstrike you pretty much nailed it on the head. Coms relay on ADL or bastion/bunker or allied units to help. I think DE have something but I don't think it's the best idea to run them together.

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

I'm gonna run azrael for now. Problem is other then his special rules he doesn't fit anywhere in my list. He's expensive too. I'm running a belial/Draigo. Gate Death Star.

I have a couple of tacs in pods with meltas just for av14 so I guess I'll just drop him in that way. Coms relay makes me nervous because if you don't win turn 1 you might lose it.

Azrael makes Terminators much more durable (against AP2). Only issue is that he can't deep strike with them at all.

True that's why I don't want to take him. If he had a personal teleporter he'd be worth it.

But on the other hand. I was just checking out this damacles command rhino from FW. It's a basic rhino that adds +-1 to reserves roll. And has a single orbital bombardment.

My two questions in regards to that is. Could you take two and essentially not have to roll? Does the rule stack? Also. If the terminators arrive turn 1 I'm guessing these tanks need to be on the table turn before they arrive? Meaning they have no effect until then 2? Or is that not so?

They need to be on the table. The rhino is an option, and it cost about the same as an ADL+comm relay. It can't be taken as a Grey Knight unit however, so you'll need allies. 2+ and re-rollable 3+ are similar odds so either one works.
My technique is to take the ADL+relay, then start 2 dreadknights behind it or a unit with Gate of Infinity+1 dreadknight. Turn 1 they man the relay to bring in reserves (beginning of your turn), then shunt forward to join the guys who just came in. If I'm really worried about extreme firepower and I don't have first turn, I'll just null deploy and hope my 3+ is good enough. The comm relay is nice because you can put it out of line of site and it gives a nice cover save to any infantry you're manning it with. 70 points out of 1850 isn't bad to ensure that should you want to alpha strike, you can do so fairly reliably.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

I'm running DA/GK. With slightly favoring of DA. So that's not a problem think I'd prefer to just eat the point for azrael then. It sucks but I can definately find a use for him.
