Probably been suggested before, but I was wondering if we could get a Spinal Tap 11 option for the gallery.

There are some wonderful, breathtakingly painted miniatures that 10/10 doesn't do justice to, that's how good they are.

Obviously, strict criteria would apply, say a minimum number of votes or something before it qualifies.

But I feel we should acknowledge the creme de la creme with a very special ranking, or dakka annual award or something...

I'm not sure i get the point, to be honest.

The system is out of 10.
If you want the best miniatures to stand out from the rest, don't give 10's to anything else.

I'd love an exalt/bookmark feature, which on sites like Imgur would be "loved", I think.
Often I want to look back on a diorama and I can't remember the image title.

I've been thinking a lot about rejigging the gallery lately. Changing to a 'great painting' and 'great model' button might be better than 0-10 voting in terms of getting more votes. I'd really love to get it down to 1 click per image.

I agree with what you're saying about giving out 10s, and it's something I rarely do, but I have 2 or 3 wonderfully painted and beautiful models stored away in my memory, and there's nothing to separate them, even though I would like to.

Strict criteria has to apply to avoid any abuse of the system, but there has to be that little extra touch for models that go above and beyond IMO.

If there's one minor tweak you could make, it's stopping the skipping to the next image when you've voted or posted a comment, as some people like to vote and post a comment, and then move on, instead of having to go back

Then it's is first posting your comment and then voting...by this you stay with your current picture...

Scored painting where you combine casual hacks like me with professional artists is always going to be problem. Either I have to deal with being a "three" or you lose all granularity and give the top stuff tens.

I think it works well enough, in that the highest rated stuff all loks great.

I tried that and it works. Thanks.

Legoburner, ignore my earlier suggestion about minor tweaks

When I give out a score to a model, I use other criteria when making a decision.

For example, a good conversin can score highly, plus how difficult the assembly was.

I've done tons of miniatures in my time, and some models can be a pain to assemble, and often require pinning, or industrial stregnth epoxy resin, or specialist machinery.

I'm lucky that I have a mini-workshop up and running that is stuffed with all manner of tools, machines, and 100 different types of superglue, but not everybody has this set up, and so, I take that into consideration.

So, you're painting might not be the best, but if the miniature was hard to assemble, I give marks for that as well.

For example, the old metal bloodthirster, and those wings, were a right pain.

I think this could possibly be a better way to grade them since everyone seems to have different numbers in mind when it comes to whats good and whats not. Some giving out those 10s easy while others go on a 1-9 scale to save the 10s for the really great ones.
