I've been to loads of tourneys this year playing Orks, and Tyranids. I'm usually one of the few Ork or Tyranid players. But now I want to finally reach my status as a special magical snowflake. At all the events this year I've never seen a Militarum Tempestus army or an Inquisitional warband (Beyond a single Coteaz or Inquisitor for servo Skulls).

I would like to build a Militarum Tempestus army backed up by an Inquisitional warband, and I'd like your help. I've got a good chunk of the models I expect to need, but have a few combos that I think might be fun and/or worth it.

#1) Servo Skulls. They help keep the scary stuff away from the fragile back field, and reduce the scatter of the scions when they come in. I love the combo. My only question is 3 or 6 Servo Skulls. Maybe 9 or 12.

#2) Bastion of Death. I feel like MT benefit a ton from a Comms Relay. So long as we are doing that, might as well make it count. So how about 8 Psychics in a Bastion (with up to 4 Jokaros). That means a S10 AP1 Large blast coming out of that bastion each turn with however many Las Cannons. Take a voidshield to help keep the bastion alive. Add some barricades for the Tauroxes. Might be a dumb idea. Chances are the Psychers all die to the 1st perils. What do you think? Do I need to add a Hunter's Eye librarian for ignore cover?

#3) Tanking with Malleus Inquisitors. They can take Terminator armor. So deep strike them attached to some MT to tank. Maybe give them relentless for hot shot volley guns. Maybe add some Dakka with a Psycannon.

#4) Warp Dice spamming. Psychers are 10 points. For 48 points you get 2 acolytes and a Psycher in a Rhino with Dozer blades for a S8 Ram. Great for movement blocking, Tankshocking, ramming, and scoring objectives. 6 points more get you a Mystic for no scatter deep strike. So then I have to take something to use the warp dice like a Conclave. I'm not sure how enthused I am about mixing in space marines, but its a thought. Another option is to spam S10. For 115 points I can get 8 Psychers in a rhino. I can have a bunch of those. Each can cast the S10 AP1 Psychic barrage power.

#5) Plasmagun spam. 73 points get you 2 plasma gunners and a Mystic in a Rhino. Add in the MT, and we are talking about a ton of plasma. Lots of MSU objective scoring as well.

I've also got Assassins, so running a Culexus in the army is appealing if I have enough points / Detachments.

I have an alternate suggestion - I have considered a MT/Inquisition mix before.

Inquisition - 3 land raiders (one Land Raider Prometheus to help with reserve rolls(also with Psybolt ammo, that's a lot of S6 shooting)). With the men to go in them (your choice).

MT - Airborne Formation equipped to taste.

Bastion is a waste of a fortification slot; it has two firing points per side; unless you were going to stack them on the top which would itself limit LoS.

Take a Bunker w/ escape hatch instead.

Don't spam Inquisitorial Psykers; they aren't good for their points cost. If you have to bring Psykers look into the IG Psyker formation. More effective overall.

Also for point #3
Relentless does not confer.

Might want to check that you have the latest codex - the Psykers haven't worked like that since the 7th Edition update for it. Black Library will re-download the latest version for you.

Yeah I like some of the creativity here...such as the very low cost rhino spam idea. But you would have to take a million Inq detachments to make it work...Inq are no DE in terms of slots that net you transports. Also as others have mentioned I think you need to reread the Brotherhood of Psykers special rule. Any psyker beyond the first in a warband is pretty useless. Though 10 pts for a Prescience battery is not a bad deal on most units.

The Psychers have a fixed power. S3 AP6 Large blast at 36". For each additional Psycher the Strength goes up and the AP Goes down. So At 8 Psychers you have a S10 AP1 Blast.

I can't for the life of me figure out if they get psychic focus, and if so on what power tree, but the built in power has a good amount of value provided you have more than 1 Psycher.

They do not have any such power in the most recent version of the codex. They are simply 10pt dudes with flak armor, a laspistol, and Brotherhood of Psykers. They generate their powers from Daemonology (Sanctic), Divination, Pyromancy, Telekinesis and Telepathy. Unless I missed something huge.

Ah man. Do I not have the current codex? I have the 6th edition Digital only codex. It is the 1st one after they removed the assassins. This one: http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/Codex-Inquisition-eBook-_Edition.html Is there a newer one out there? Or did they do some sort of stealth update to it?

ETA: Crap. Stealth Update. Let me think over the ramifications of the changes, and I'll start fresh.
