If these are up to the quality of GW's other painting videos with Duncan, these will be great.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |

And that's good because it's best to paint in multiple thin layers rather than going thick and clogging up all your heart's detail.
Another Duncan fan here. I hate painting but have a thing about playing with unpainted minis. Duncan almost, almost makes me look forward to painting.

I wonder what tips will they be doing, because we've already seen pretty much everyhing that can be covered? weathering? Done. Thinning paints? Duncan reminds that N times in each of the videos. Freehanding? Done. Layering? Done. Washing (both pin and regular) - done. Greenstuffing? Done. Unless they plan to go into details how to paint those very specific models they haven't showed how to, yet. Anyways, looking forward to it.

I've been a long term critic of GW for er...a long time
but I have to admit, GW's paint strategy these past years has been outstanding.
They know their demographic, and they know that people want models painted quickly and to a good standard.
So you have high quality paints, and a very straightforward painting strategy that's easy to pass on: base, shade, layer, textured base paint...
This gives you models painted to a good gaming standard, and the videos are there to help you through.
As much as it pains me to admit it, it's a damn good strategy and Duncan's videos have contributed to this...
Now, if only they could bring the rest of the company up to this standard... Automatically Appended Next Post: Sqorgar wrote:Duncan is a national treasure. That man has painted two thin coats of love to my heart.
Probably one of the best pieces of painting advice you'll ever get, and it also works for walls, fences and sheds, as well

Here , and here . Not a complete video dedicated to this specific technique, but he does show it how to do it and comments what to do if you mess up.

Today's video shows how to paint the blue armour for Heresy-era Night Lords. Tomorrow's video will show how to do the lightning for the armour.

This is great, but I wish they would do it on a platform infinitely less please don't bypass the language filter like this. Reds8n then Facebook. Perhaps a platform that doesn't require you to upload all your personal data just view content.

Quick question, I thought the pre-Heresy scheme was more purple than blue?
I've always had a passing interesst in them, but nowadays I'm actually planning to convert a few and do both schemes, but only if the scheme e.g. on the 40k wikia is correct.

Ahhh, duncan.
Every time I watch a guide of his on Harlequins, it plays out in my mind something like this
"Most people think Harlequins diamond patterns are incredibly difficult. Actually, they can be very easy! I'll show you a few simple steps to get them just right.
Step 1: paint the area a single color. Use a couple thin, even coats here. you want the area coverage to be really nice and thorough. Really just...get in that area. Cover it all up. Make sure the area is thoroughly blocked out, in one, SINGLE color. Really, this is the most difficult part. Make sure that whole part is covered in one of the two colors.
Step 2: Freehand the ceiling of the sistine chapel in a repeating pattern around your miniature's leg. It's important that the fingertouch lines up. Think about how the sistine chapel would stretch and bend around the leg of the harlequin.
Step 3: now we're going to paint over most of the sistine pattern we've just freehanded, leaving a very simple diamond pattern. Juuuuuuust like this. See? That was very easy! Remember, practice makes perfect."
|
"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |
