Hey guys. So I'm wanting to make an ork runtherd army that uses mostly slaves. My question is would this be allowed rule wise? Because I do know fluff wise that it says ork runtherds can have slaves that include human, tau, and eldar. Anyone who could help out with this would be much appreciated.

Depends on what you mean by "rule-wise".

If you're using the Ork Gretchin rules for the slaves, and just using human models, very few people would have a problem with it. People usually only get in a fuss with what rules your using, not the models that represent them (although the model should at least be roughly the same shape as what you're representing).

If you mean actual different rules to reflect Eldar, Tau and Humans under a Runtherder "Slaver" then it gets into the grey area.

The way I was thinking it would work at least rule wise would be that I could just take the stats of say imperial guardsmen and use imperial guardsmen units to represent my "human" slave army. That's probably not how it would work.

Do you mean your entire army uses the Imperial Guard Codex and just modelled as slaves, or do you want to intermix guard and Ork units together?

The former is ok, the latter is generally not allowed unless your opponent agrees beforehand.

use renegade guards and count as orks renthers as enforcers & demagogues

Automatically Appended Next Post:
you can ally them with orks and their statline makes orks look cool

Let me get this straight...you want bs3 5+ st3 slaves for 5 points, when the bs2 6+ st3 ork boy would cost 6?

We don't get nice things.

You should really ask the person you're playing against. From my experience, most people will have literally no issues even if you mix up a few rules for fun. Unless you're getting any significant advantages out of it.

Or just proxy ig/renegades. Runtherds can be sarges, comissars or demagogues.

You might be able to get away with using the stats of conscripts, they are cheap and have worse stats then your typical guardsman.

I'd say that conscripts are better than guardsmen because they're so cheap. Can still shoot down infantry and take more space.

Why not use ork army with allied tau, eldar or IG? the fire warriors or gaurdsmen (or conscripts) can be "slaves" and fight along side your regular ork army. Maybe have a unit of grots nearby for every allied unit of "slaves" to make it more realistic. What a cool idea though!! TONS of conversions possible.

This actually makes a bit of sense, since the allies rule and their reactions would neatly represent the slaves "fearing" their Ork masters.

Yep. And why can't these Eldar slaves keep their jetbikes? Why can't the marine slaves bring their Glaudius detachment?

When does it stop becoming fluffy fun and start becoming cheating?

I use allied Renegade guards ( without milita training) because they have crappy stats compared to orks and their gear mostly consist of stuff usually controlled by grots in a normal ork army.

Eldar, Tau and SM units don't even come close to the "slave feel" with their superior stats . Having armoured "slaves" in full armour and deadly guns doesn't make any sense ; )

Having slaves as a theme is great, but only "counts as" something from the official rules. Probably use the grots rules for the human slaves, so t2 ws2 ld5.

Actually that's quite about right, as a beat-down human would be 1 less tough that a gaurdsman (who would be pretty dang tough, actually) and couldn't fight well, but still be able to shoot in a pinch. They would break and flee the first chance they get.

Using a theme to justify cheating just plain sucks, imho.
