Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has tried a "fat Dengar " build with an eye on using adv Proton Torpedoes with him.

A sample build build I've been considering is

Dengar (54)
JumpMaster 5000 (33), Push the Limit (3), Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6), Extra Munitions (2), K4 Security Droid (3), Unhinged Astromech (1), Glitterstim (2), Engine Upgrade (4)

The k4 & unhinged astromech give him lots of options to get a TL while boost or barrel roll (or both + glitterstims) gives him lots of ways to get to r1.

Another option i was thinking about involved deadeye and overclocked r4, but I couldn't see how to make it work along with even just a barrel roll to reposition

I thought about a Fat Dengar once, but I came to the rough idea that the title "Punsihing One" would be a must-have to keep his damage output at a decent level like Han. 12 points made him as much as Han without upgrades, but is it worth it?

PTL, unhinged, K4 and EU are part of my Dengar Build, but I use the Inertial Dampener and the title instead, with no munitions.

If you can get your combo to go off on a turen you use glitterstim, I am sorry for your target.

Without the title you will struggle to hurt anything once the Torpedo's are used

In principle, it seems workable. With PS9 and PTL+k4+EU, you have good enough action economy and repositional ability to get into range 1 with a target lock + focus. Glitterstim can help here, especially against PS10 ships.

You would also want the Punishing One title if you're building a Fat Dengar. You need that extra attack dice for your main attack if you want to take down high agility ships. Your torpedoes are not enough on their own.

Of course, if and when he goes down, you're handing your opponent a big chunk of points. Your MOV will be gakky, most of the time.

If you really want to use Advanced Proton Torpedoes, you'll want Boost. It's a weapon which demands you get to close range, so that extra move forward is important.

A Boost/Barrel Roll gives you a lot of flexibility to line up the shot, and the K4 and Glitterstim give you the ability to 'arm' the torpedoes for free.

My one problem with the concept - you basically lose Dengar's ability with this build; without punishing one, or Deadeye and some means of getting extra focus tokens, his second shot is pretty much irrelevant. If you want an alpha strike Dengar, I'd far rather take deadeye and an overclocked R4 and fire off two heavily modified torpedoes at someone in a turn - but accept lighter torps for more tactically useful range 2-3 attacks.

Yes.

My Fat Dengar build (and one of my favorite builds to run) is K4, title, Unhinged, PTL, Engine Upgrade. I usually pair him with IG-88C, and will definitely be doing so when the next wave drops, as I'll be switching K4 for IG-88D so my Dengar can boost then Evade.
