Hey,
So I'm gonna pick up the Dark Vengeance set, and was looking for a Chaos scheme that wasn't the generic Crimson Slaughter stuff. My scheme for the Dark Angels is black with red right arms (bone white with red arms for the death wings), so I wanted something to contrast this. Preferably not red. But yeah.

TL;DR- Looking for a CSM scheme that's not boring as hell, but also doesn't blend with my black space marines.

Cheers.

Is there a permanent stickied thread for Chaos players to complain every time someone/anyone gets models or rules besides them? If not, there should be.

Mine are pale green and brown, for Nurgle

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

Fun fact. The GW eavy metal team initially painted the CSM from that box as Black Legion. It wasn't until photographing the box art that they realised that there wasn't enough contrast between armies and the box looked drab and confusing.
Thus the Crimson Slaughter was born.
If you look closely at the figures you'll see that the CS are a real rush paint job compared to the DA and also the BL which appeared in the magazines when it was released.

Interesting, plus the black-painted versions of the chosen turned up in one of the codexes, and I think they look really cool.

I've been really taken with the Yellow and Silver scheme done on these:

Didn't think I'd like an army that looks like a warning sign, but yknow.

Yeah, the BL scheme does look great, I can understand their decision though.
I've just dug that codex out and the difference is markable even with my juddercam quicksnaps.

Iron Warriors aren't difficult to do. Boltgun metal (whatever it's called these days) basecoat and then nuln oil washes until you're happy with them. Some do bronze trims, some do gold. I prefer bronze. Not that I've ever painted IW before... so take my opinion with a pinch of salt

Or just do whatever you want. The trims on CSMs are almost always metallic but there's no law saying they must be.
