Scout have reported in that shortly the Imperial Strong Point Beta upon the world of Zustasa will be under siege by the newly awoken forces of a nearby tomb world. This is the second attempt by the forces of not just one, but two tomb worlds to recover a captured warrior from the first tomb world. The other half of this battle company repulsed the initial rescue attempt by the first Necron Lord at Imperial Strong-point Alpha a few weeks back, suffering a mere 34% casualties . After the attack it was decided by the interrogator chaplain in charge that the warrior would be moved in stasis farther into imperial territory so questioning and research could continue uninterupted. It has, we have learned much from this simple warrior, and require a more advanced member of this strange race.

The Imperial Strong Point Beta consists of the following.
1 Imperial Bastion, 1 Void Shield, 1 Communications Array (so the outpost is in contact with the fleet above), 1 Ammo Storehouse.
2 Aegis Defense lines (8 short/long sections in total)
4 Quad-Gun Emplacements.

Troops deployed to defend the Imperial Strong Point Beta
1 Chaplain armed with Power Fist, Crozius, Digital weapons.
1 Assault Squad armed with 2 Plasma Pistols, 2 Evicerators, 5 standard assault marines, lead by a Veteran Sgt armed with a Combat Shield, Plasma Pistol and Thunder-Hammer.
1 Devastator Squad armed with 4 Plasma Cannons, 5 standard Devastator Marines, lead by a Veteran Sgt armed with a Plasma Pistol and Thunder-Hammer.
3 Tactical Squads armed with 1 Plasma Cannon, 1 Plasma Gun, 7 standard tactical marines, lead by Veteran Sgt's armed with Plasma Pistol's and Thunder-Hammer's.
1 Dreadnought Squad armed with 3 Plasma Cannons and Missile Launchers.
1 Command Squad armed with 4 Plasma Guns and Thunder-Hammers, one of which also has the Company Standard they have an apothecary with them.

Initial Deployment Tactics
I intend to place the devastator's within the bastion so i can fire the 4 plasma cannons from the windows as well as the 4 heavy bolters, the other 2 marine's will be dedicated to looking out for the sgt on one of the heavy bolters.
The tactical squads will take support the Comand Squad defending the firing the quad guns.
The assault squad will jump into anyone that gets through the gunline.
The dread's will be be focused on the monolth's or destroying the many warriors that will be coming towards me.

Initial thoughts on this force.
No drop pods, no Vehicles. I am defending the 1 and only objective.
I have 5 points remaining.
I choose to bring the vet sgt in each squad or the 2 Attacks they get. 5 more thunderhammer or plasma pistol shots each turn for 50 points.
I did have melta bombs, but the neither of the two tomb worlds ill be defending against have any vehicles beyond one monolith a piece. Dropping them allowed me to pick up a second Aegis Defense line for a bit more cover for the greenwing.

Options?
I could pull the dreadnoughts and add a Gallant with Ironstorm Pod + Meltagun + Demote Assault Squad from Veteran to Sgt. which would put me at exactly 2500, or i can be over by 10 points.

Holey Moley, your opponents won't need to do anything, you'll lose points every shooting phase with that much plasma.

The number of shots a model fires is not based on it's Attack characteristic, so you'd get the extra hammer attacks, but no extra pistol shots for having Vet Sarges. I take Vet upgrades because I suck at rolling 8 or under for Ld tests.

You've got so many toys, just oodles of things, that you probably won't need. If your opponents only have a Monolith, then the Quadguns don't help you (they'll have to snap-shot at everything, due to having Skyfire), your Dreads will take the entire game to glance a monolith to death (it'll ignore the plasma cannons, and the ML's will need a 6 to glance). Lascannons, meltaguns or meltabombs are better answers to a Monolith.

The thunder hammers sargeants in each squad will either:
a) get challenged by a Warscythe-wielding Lord, and either die at I2 or not be able to attack at all. Or
b) die to plasma overheats

If you include a unit of Scouts, you can use the force as a Lion's Blade for the extra BS on Overwatch. You're already at BS3, but just something to consider.

This is the second half of one of my lions blade strike forces i ran the other half of this with the 10m vet squad instead of the dreads/cmd squad and only suffered around 34% casualties. Ammo dump rerolls 1 on the to hits, nobody got hot the 2nd roll for me a couple weeks ago.

It is alot of plasma but thats what the dark angels do.

The first battle had some of the necro bikers that were easy peasy for a couple tac squads to wipe out before they closed. Other then that ive only faced necron warrior's by the score from this guy. In the first battle against the necron player that tried to recover his guy, he did not have the monolith as it had fallen due to road construction vibrations and he had to repair it. Since then another neighbor got some necrons and a monolith as well and is jumping in the game. Ill have another of the neighbors helping me run the troops as i dont have all the rules memorized.

I dont know much about necron's I assumed that the monolith could fly, as it can move around the map and is not stationary. As it moved when it was fighting the stompa.

I dont know the AV of a monolith, thats why i was asking if i should swap the three dreads for a gallant to try and pop it open.

I can only field the demi co in this battle, i cant bring the full battle company(over 4k points) for the lions blade as the full lions blade strike force is over 9k points.

Though in a couple of weeks, were going to have a crazy apoc game with my full lions blade strike force co against an allied necron/dark eldar,/orc/sisters of battle. Though i get an imperial guard and stout army to ally with.

In about 30 games now this year that ive played. Ive only had 1 bad encounter with getting hot and blowing up my own guys. Every other time the Emperor's light has been with us and we have emerged victorious.

So the "A" Attack stat is only for Melee attacks, only get one shot.. not two. thats not how i was tought to play.. I was told A = number of attacks in either shooting or assault phase that you get.

I was intending to get a couple shots off each of the quad guns with the cmd squad each shooting phase.

I missed the ammo dump, fair point there.

The Monolith is indeed a Skimmer, meaning you can fire Skyfire weapons at it normally, but it is AV 14, so they need to be at least strength 8 to harm it. If you could replace the Quadguns with Icarus Lascannons that might be an option?

A Lion's Blade is a single Core choice (Demi-Company) plus at least one Auxillary (for example, 10th Company Support), but since the Demi already gives BS3 overwatch it's not major (particularly if all the Necron player is doing is swarming Warriors, rather than anything melee-centric). I was only suggesting it as an option.

Gallant is the melee Knight right? Given the amount of Gauss he'll have access it could be a tricky prospect keeping it alive, but it would mince (and then hurl) a Monolith (or anything, practically) in combat.

I do also have four lascannon emplacments i could take those instead of the quad-guns, figured four barrles vs 1 barrel would hurt more. neither's been used yet.

I thought that needed 2 core for the blade, not one demi. I could shrink squad size a tad to add the scout 8 man squads should do it.

Aye gallant is the melee knight, ive got 2/3 of them towards a lance to eventually supplement the ravenwing with.
