Hi all,
I really like the MAT model and think it would make a great center piece for my iron warriors, but obviously it isn't available to them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could incorporate it without stretching the rules/ proxying too far? My only idea is to use it as a counts as typhon.
Cheers
James

Cheers James As per the latest book, it is! Check the listing of superheavies and the Minotaur is listed as available for Legions. Though it does reference the rules from the Taghmata Red Book which actually has it as a 5HP Heavy Vehicle with a rear facing flare shield. And yes, it is a wonderous model Edit: Here's the page in question:

Which makes no sense, because then there's no way to legally take the Minotaur. The two non-flyer vehicle options for LoW:
War Machine Detachment: 1-2
Super-heavy vehicles of the same unit
type, each with a Hull Points value
of 8 or less, and each chosen either
from the specific army list for the
Primary Detachment, the Questoris
Knights army list found in the Crusade
Imperialis army list, or the optional
Super-heavy list found on page 10.
and
The Engine of Destruction: A single
Super-heavy vehicle of any type with a
Hull Points value of 9 or greater, chosen
either from the specific army list for the
Primary Detachment, Titans from the
Mechanicum Taghmata army list or the
optional list of Super-heavies found on
page 10
Both of them explicitly require superheavy vehicles, so the 30k Minotaur may be on your LoW list but there's no LoW slot that can legally have one. The obvious solution here is that the author forgot that the Mechanicum Minotaur has its own weird rules (not superheavy, flare shield instead of AV 14, and sponson volkite guns) and you should just use the 40k rules for the Minotaur. After all, the "standard" Minotaur is much more appropriate fluff-wise for non-Mechanicum factions.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

Ha! Never even noticed that page (which is on p10 on my book...). Cheers! Roll on payday! Automatically Appended Next Post: @ peregrine thanks for pointing that out. I'll have a good look at the rules and see if I'd be better off sticking to the original plan of a typhon.

Bit of a brain-fart there - no sponson options for the Ordo Reductor Minotaur Artillery Tank, it's got three flavours of pintle mount and four equipment upgrades.
I recon you're thinking of the Ordinatus.
@ OP it's a bit redundant since you can take them as shown above, but you could take an Ordo Reductor allied detachment instead? a minotaur in the heavy support slot, a compulsory thallax cohort and Calleb Decima with the 'decima invictus' upgrade and a cyber-familiar is 575points. up to 2 more minotaur can be squadroned in the slot if thats your thing and the 'tax' units are niceley resilient and have some damn handy tricks available.
Thallax push all infiltrators away 24" from them irrespective of LOS and worsen cover saves by 2. Calleb Decima's 'curse of the omnissiah' attack becomes properly useful since the decima invictus upgrade gives him 'relentless' and 'eternal warrior' and the cyber-familiar gives him a 4++. As an independent character he could get a ride-along with your existing transports and is pretty much garuanteed to cripple any single target with an armour value within 18" when he gets out.
He also has a Macrocarid Explorator DT option which can do Irradiation Engine sponsons (fleshbane, AP3, torrent) and TL phased plasma fusil hull weapon (S6 AP3 salvo 2/3)

The Ordo Reductor - the guy's who make wonderful things like the Landraider Achillies, but can't use them in battle.. |

Take Ordo Reductor as your allies and put 3 Minotaurs as the HS choice...
Ordo Reductor Minotaur Battery: Up to 3 Minotaurs forming a battery. It's not a Superheavy anymore, but a Heavy Tank (so it can score). Much better than the IA Minotaur by having an enclosed cabin, Autosimulacra, Extra armour, BS4, the chance of having 3 as one HS choice and it's 70 pts cheaper. Like the IA version it has AV14 on the rear by virtue of its rear-facing Flare shield, it's hit on its AV12 side on assaults and can't level its Massive Blast Twin-Linked Earthshaker cannon for direct fire, so it has a 24" blind zone that deep strikers will try to exploit. For that it has access to Armoured Ceramite to whithstand melta blasts, a pintle mounted marine woodchipper Phased-plasma fusil and the Anabaric Claw, which zaps those melee attackers at I10.

Cheers everyone. I think the 24" blind zone is the deal breaker. I'll stick with the Typhon for games, and maybe eventually pick up a minotaur just as a display piece to go with them.

I've found over the years that once you have an established min zone on heavy artillery like that, it makes weapon selection elsewhere in the army easier. Also Minotaurs look beautiful.

Yeah, it is not realy a problem. I still prefer a Mars-collossus Bombard but sometimes I field a Basilisk.

I just got to say that the Minotaur is fantastic! It tends to pull a lot of fire as people don't seem to like having a massive blast template dropped on them. Plus they really don't like it when you reroll your scatter. And it looks great too. I'm thinking about running a second one with my Ordo Reductor.
