It was my fault - tweaking some stuff behind the scenes and ran out of memory on the server. Likely to happen 2-3 more times tonight, but wont have the site offline for quite as long as that last time!

Sorry... the site wasn't accessible for me in the last 30 minutes or so. Yep, site went down and it worried me too. Cleared my history and restarted the browser t check my end.
Then suddenly Dakka was back. I checked here and was about to open my own thread.
If Dakka is expected to go down again tonight blanket message to all members either by PM or another means would be helpful.

It wont go down for more than 20 minutes unless there is some unknown issue that I miss. Sending a blanket PM = sending out over 100,000 emails which I'm kind of keen to avoid doing

When I read this, I assumed something more along the lines of something new put in place to calm the sudden rise of enthusiastic posters peddling questionable wares and loose women. Though no sign of a reappearance of those delicious cabinets that help store foodstuffs as yet....

A quick fix if you're stuck on the maintenance screen is ctrl+r. Forces a refresh minus cookies or cache data. I sometimes get stuck on the "dakka is down" screen, but ctrl+r always fixes it.
