So im looking at making a questionable financial decision in the coming weeks, that is buying a titan of some form, be it warhound, reaver, or warlord remains to be seen.
But before I do, im slowly reading up on titan lore so i know what to paint it/the story. I wanted to know, which titan legion would most likely, or has deployed with the dark angels, or is commonly employed by the dark angels in their campaigns?

There is no legio force 'regularly' deployed with the dark angels; they're not big on outsiders and definitely not big on anyone getting to know them.
During the Horus Heresy, they definitely fought with several - Legio Audax (later turned traitor) and Legio Gryphonnicus (stayed loyal) but in M.41? No real idea.
On a one-off, or single-campaign basis, theoretically any titan legion could have found itself fighting alongside the dark angels.....pretty much pick a colour schema you like and add a winged sword to one knee as a campaign honour.

Some good points, I can dig it.
Lore wise I know a SM force would not actually own it, so for that reason I don't want to paint it full DA colors.
I'm also assuming Titan legions operates much like the knight houses.

Titan Legions are part of the Adeptus Mechanicus. They go where the AdMech directs them to go, and will not "walk" a world unless the AdMech commander of the Titan Legion fething well feels like it.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

Operating alongside astartes? Most likely a warhound. They operate as scouts and pickets for larger titans, but also provide heavy support for lesser forces like the guard and astartes, when they are assigned to. Battle titans like the Reaver and warlord have their own battles to fight, so are usually the core of a force that supports them, not the other way around.
From an outside perspective, a Warhound is most likely to see table time, as its point cost and size are not greatly above some of the GW kits out there, and people are generally more likely to play against it in smaller games than a battle titan. Plus the weapons are relatively cheap (for a titan) so it is easy to magnetize and swap for the desired level of play, from a generalist VMB + Plasma (the old school mars loadout) to the heavier plasma + turbolaser, or the full on double turbolaser to just kill things dead.
Assembly, I'd put the warhound as #2 as far as ease of build. Reaver is probably the easiest to build, with only the toes being annoying (to me) and everything else going together well. Warlord is pretty simple, and the feet are the easiest of the 3, but the size gives it problems of it's own.
The warhound feet and legs are the most complex of the 3, and the body is 6 parts that all fit together, while the reaver has a center part that everything else hangs off of, and the warlord lacks an interior so is a giant box for a core.
If you can, magnetize the waist and the weapons, and titans become far easier to transport- the torso of mine fits in a sabol tray sized for a baneblade, with room for all the guns with it.

A local shop owner has like 3 or 4 titans that he built, and from whay i have seen you can do some crafty stuff to make them much more stable and easy to transport. One such thing is he drilled a pretty sizable hole in the bottom of the torso and the peg it sat on, and put a small wooden dowel to give it more stability.
I dont know if i wanna go with the classic VMB + plasma or just go full turbo laser and blast any other walker clean off the table.

If you want to be 'good' there is no substitute for as many turbolaser barrels as you can fit on a titan - it's faintly ridiculous there is no points differential between the different weapons.
Other weapons are less effective, but arguably better balanced and more fun.

That was gonna be the plan, put the 2 turbo lasers on it, point it at anything remotely expensive and blam!
Oh I see you brought a wraith knight? Well now it's dead on turn one, hmmmmm how droll.

Yes, turbolasers is the main reason people do not usually agree to face titans.

Oh I admit aside from wanting to build and paint, I just want to to counter TFG that brings wraith armies.

If it's going in a chaos army, there's an argument for a reaver instead. The "Daemon Titan Of" rules are amazing - especially if you subscribe to the view* that it also confers Daemon of Tzeench (and hence reroll '1's on your invulnerable save).
Plus, the chaos reaver power fist looks epic.
* Don't start the argument here; see YMDC for details
