Hong Kong (HKSAR) - Games Workshop announced today (August 19) that it has opened its own retail store with an office in Hong Kong, as part of the Nottingham-headquartered hobby miniature maker's plan to boost its branding in the city.

Games Workshop has over 30 years of experience designing and selling some of the most famous hobby miniatures in the world for collection and for strategy battle games, which are played on a large board with dice and rulers. The Games Workshop Hong Kong Ltd Sales Manager, Mr Ismail Sekkate, said that it was a timely move for the company to take a step forward in opening its own retail outlet, after years of successful partnership with distributors in Hong Kong.

Mr Sekkate said that the store in Mong Kok is in the right location and offers the latest miniature models, including Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar and more, plus a full series of related books and other accessories. The store also holds regular workshops on painting and modelling miniatures, offering fans a complete experience in the hobby.

Mr Sekkate said, "We have been doing business in the region through Hong Kong distributors for many years.

We understand that if we want to be successful in the long run, we need to be embedded in the market, working with local people and establishing a direct presence in the region. That is why we set up our own store for our further expansion in Hong Kong. "

He added, "Hong Kong as an international city is the best window for us to promote our products in the region.

We will use the Hong Kong office to expand our customer base through building relations with business partners as well as developing our own retail chain."

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Dr Jimmy Chiang said, "Hong Kong has traditionally been an important centre for the toy and collectibles industry and it is exciting that Games Workshop is opening a store with an office in Hong Kong to support their existing clients and to introduce the game to a new group of collectors and players. We wish the company success in Hong Kong and that the brand will quickly grow in the region via our city."

They won't have a hard time finding a distributor either..

Why did they leave in the first place?? I have traveled to Hong Kong for the last twenty years and at one point Games Workshop had three or four game shops there.
But they kept moving them around and opening and closing stores.. Every time I returned I would have to spend a day trying to find them.
Now being gone for over ten years and that local shops have picked up the slack.. they want to return .. Good luck to them

I'm sure their customers will appreciate having faster access to new releases.
