Not familiar with Harlequins or Eldar. First off some fluff questions. Iis the Harlequin Troupe Master like a Space Marine Captian? Also do the Harlequins work for both Eldar and Dark Eldar or are they just Eldar units only?

Second. I am putting the Harlequin Troupe Master together right now. I see I have two sprue. Are there suppose to be two sprues or one? If there is suppose to be two sprue what is the other one suppose to be used for? What am I missing or not seeing here? Also I thought there was suppose to be a Deathwatch upgrade sprue. What is it? Is it just the Deathwatch shoulder pads or is it something else?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

So, a Troupe Master is like a Space Marine Sergeant. The Harlequins, in the fluff, work with Eldar of all types, and in game belong to their own faction (which is mostly used as an allied force with Eldar and Dark Eldar)

With regards to the assembly, you get 2 Troupe Masters, since you have 2 Troupe units in the box. Pay attention to their loadouts, since you need to make them match the ones listed on the datasheets in the campaign book.

The upgrade sprue is the little one with pauldrons, icons, a sword, a chest, and 2 heads. It's the same size as the character sprues.

The Harlequins are divided into Masques, large groupings of harlequins with similar philosophical outlooks, who approach combat and performance the same way (they tend to dress alike, as well). Each Masque is divided into troupes, who are the groups of performers who travel and fight together.

If you're looking for an analogy, a Masque is (very) loosely analagous to a Chapter full of nothing but elite veterans. In that context, a troupe is analagous to a squad, with a troupe master being somewhat like a veteran sergeant.

It's a little hard to say, because the ranks don't really translate well.

If I understand correctly, the Harlequins in the Death Masque box set have two troupes worth, so there should be enough bits to build two troupe masters. (One for each.)

Harlequins do not serve the Eldar or Dark Eldar, they are their own faction. They do seek unity between the splintered groups of the Eldar race. (In regards to rules, however, they can ally with either Craftworld Eldar or Dark Eldar, although they are their own, independent faction.)

Hope that helps.

Welcome to the Freakshow!

Dunno about Harlies but the DW Upgrade Sprue is just a sprue of pads. Here is a pic from the GW site:

As for fluff, the Troupe Master is...well the Master of the Troupe. I suppose they would like like the Space Marine Captains but in the grand scheme of things they're like the Ringmasters and Performance coaches of a circus.

As for how they intermingle with the Eldar; they're aloof allies; the Harlequins often have their own agenda and in fact the Craftworld and Commoragh cousins are terrified of their wrath. Think of it this way; if Eldar are Space Marines and Dark Eldar are Imperial Guard, then the Harlequins would be the Inquisition.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Or just build how you want. You don't have to use those formations. Same models can be used to build reqular harlie army as well.
