Im really bad at keeping my brushes in a well kept, long preserved state.

All im saying is how do the populace take care of there brush, and if so could you mention what it takes... Like what type of brush you use...

Thanks

Keep paint out of the metal ferrule that holds the bristles. When paint gets in there it dries and shrinks taking the back of the bristle with it and makes them come apart at the tip.

Also soaking them in a good brush soap can get the gunk out and keep a nice tip on the brush. I get a washer with a small hole and put the brush through it and down into the soap bottle.

Master's Brush Soap. This stuff is fantastic for cleaning brushes and extending their lifespan. It can also help restore a brush's shape to a point and reverse fraying/splaying, and even a small tub of it lasts for ages.

I just buy cheap brushes.

Seriously, Makeup Brushes from the £1 shop work just as well for me as the GW brushes and I dont care that they need replacing every month.

You get 6 of them for £1.

You must not do any detail much at all.

Is that aimed at me?

Im not a great painter at all. My posts here will attest to that, but I woldn't be any better if I exclusively used GW brushes, I promise you.

GW brushes are terrible as well. Not calling you out or saying you're a bad painter, but even a golden demon winner couldn't paint eyes with a cheap makeup brush. I was just saying it would be nearly impossible to do detail work with the brushes I'm thinking you mean.
Part of improving your painting is improving your brushes. It just makes it much harder to do without good tools. I use a brush that's about $8-$15 US but I maintain it for years.

Quality tools won't make you a Golden Demon winner, but they will make your life easier and will help you improve.

I usually use average soap with Neutral PH and wash it carefully (without torturing the hair of the brush) and with citadel paints it works perfectly, leaving them to dry with natural air..
Try not to leave the cleaning for too long though, clean them as soon as you've finished your work for that day,
