Sword-Wielding Bloodletter of Khorne

Hello everyone, recently I purchased some second hand KDK models (mostly blood letters, and crushers). I noticed that half of the letters were based with 32mm vs the 25 that all my boxes came with. So I did some research and noticed that the letters got a rebox with 32mm rounds in them. So my question is this, should I rebase them to 32mm??? I mean is the benefits for the blood letters having 32mm bases for extra space for pie plates / board control etc vs assault draw backs, worth it?
Let me hear your opinions folks.
Thanks!

You don't have to if you don't want to. GW's always said that you should use the models with the bases they're supplied on. Since your bloodletters were supplied with the smaller bases, you should feel free to keep them on there if you don't want the hassle.
That said, I prefer the smaller bases as it's already easy to avoid blast templates and the smaller bases lets you squeeze through cracks easier. Larger bases do have their use too (especially with the Daemonic Incursion letting you string your squads longer to "infect" more objectives faster) so it all depends on your playstyle.

Bigger bases make a unit take up larger surface area which can be a bad thing often, but they actually help with templates, since the gap between outer edges of an adjacent minis base will be larger, so you need a bigger template to cover as many as with smaller bases.

Personally, I go for whatever looks better, which for me is using the larger bases on my models.

I understand that, I'm just curious if tactically one is better than the other.

I prefer 32mm for my Bloodletters and Plaguebearers, 28mm for my Daemonettes and Horrors.

EDIT: Nevermind I forgot you were doing KDK and do not have access to Incursion. In that case, smaller is better since you can deepstrike with less fear of mishaps. The tradeoff is that for one turn you are extremely vulnerable to templates if they do deepstrike, since they would be clumped together.

yeah I was leaning to 25mm bases. My army consist of 4o Hounds with 50mm bases so they can spread the board control.

Tactically the smaller base is best. Thematically, no T3 1W infantry model should EVER be on anything bigger than a 25mm base. They might look cool on the 32mm, but their "area of affect" should not be that great. They'll die to a stiff breeze, so why make put them on big bases Marines are "elite", have T4 and good armour. It makes sense for them to be on 32mm, but "horde/expendable" infantry like 'Letters, Cultists, etc should stay on 25mm. Don't play along with GW's scale inflation. This is supposed to be a 28mm Heroic scale mini game, but every time GW makes the models/bases bigger, they inch it ever closer to 30mm, 32mm, 36mm scale. It makes no sense now that the modeling technics are better and can accommodate a smaller scale better. -

Base with what it came with and if you want to you can use a larger base, within reason.
My buddy has a bunch of older BA models on the 28mm bases and we go confused when he bought some new models and they had larger bases.

Marines work best on 32. They look better and far less prone to wobbly model syndrome.
Jump.packs or running etc posed definitely benefit.

okay, got them based back in the 25mm last night. Only 10 of them were on the 32, but luckily I had some spare 25's. Now just got get 40 nickles so I can superglue them to the bottom to keep them up better lol
