From the Warhammer TV FB page:
We have some exciting news folks.
We are delighted to announce that, for the first time, we'll be streaming live from an official Warhammer gaming event.
Join us on the 10th and 11th of September.
The event is 'The Warlords', the first Warhammer World Matched Play event for Age of Sigmar. Seems like GW has really been embracing this new-fangled internet thingy as of late

I continue to be impressed by GW's new direction. It has encouraged me to consider buying their minis again when I said I never would. I'll be watching this.

MtG events do stream matches. The scale is a tad smaller, but you could technically use the same setup to capture and broadcast wargames.
It's the time frame and commentary that would be the biggest obstacles in creating something people would actually want to watch.

That's what I was wondering. I might want to watch maybe 5 minutes of it here and there, but will it make any sense?
If I was going to dedicate a weekend to watching AoS be played, I'd drive down to WHW and play it.
Still, it's worth a shot Our local FLGS has recently got a set up to stream tournaments on (I think) twitch, and another FLGS has been doing it for MtG/Yugio for a while, so there must be a demand.

My local live streams just about all of our X-Wing tournaments. We have one table set up for recording that covers interesting matchups during the swiss and then top table games in the cut with a dedicated commentary team chattering away for the whole day. Lots of other places do stream coverage for Nationals and Regional level events so its definitely a thing in my main game. People from all around the world tune in to watch to the matchs from my experiences in the twitch chat. Personally I hate being on stream, its not the way I like playing a game(lots of second guessing, some backtracking, constant judge supervision) but a lot of people seem to really get a kick out of it so I won't knock it.
From a quick look at the Age of Sigmar events pack it seems like the tournament has 2.5 hour rounds which is a bit on the longside. As long as the board has simple terrain and the armies on the stream are quite visually distinctive it could work. The biggest problem will be keeping track of dice rolls, effects and tracking damage. So I hope they bother with a dedicated dice box and camera, get way ahead with printing oversized card counters for effects and making an overlay to show units/casualties but that stuffs an extra layer of polish not too many bother with but goes a long long way to improving the viewing experience.

They'll probably string a camera up in the room for people to view.

In recent event there was stream of blood bowl game(guess idea was to demo the game for new audience). Worked pretty well but that was in part due to commentators keeping it entertaining. Myself wouldn't be interested at all for more nuts&bolts competive game stream. Too dry. But blood bowl lends itself better as it lends itself for humorous commentary easily.
Does require good commentaror IMO though. Simply having video stream of table is not IMO going to be that interesting. Of course YMMV.

A good setup for AoS would have to have the main top down cam with pointer and zoom functionality for the commentators, a dice cam and two stat cams.
GW might be changing, but they ain't there yet, and I don't think there would be much interest anyway in watching what amounts to a very, very slow match of Dota/Starcraft.

I'd probably watch Blood Bowl with suitably crazy commentators.

This is pretty interesting, and exciting for AoS fans. However, first streams always suck. Whether it's a video game or tabletop, until the group finds its footing and gets into a groove, it's usually terrible.
Frontline livestreams 40k on and off, and it took them months to get a setup that is good for watching.

I watched the Independent Characters' coverage of Adepticon a few years ago and that was kinda neat. I can see myself tuning into this just to see what's up. I know some people absolutely love this stuff though.

I'd probably watch Blood Bowl with suitably crazy commentators.
They were pretty crazy Players also were commenting in suitable style. Also game had live audience as well who were into it as well demanding blood. There was chance for player to be pushed to the crowd and guess were commentator and audience all "BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD!" And what a roar when player WAS pushed to the crowd and was it SI'ed. Or rock thrown from audience which killed a player. Good roar.
Was pretty fun to watch. Commentator also made it easy to follow even WITHOUT knowledge about blood bowl. Fun fun fun.
