I'm painting up a zone mortalis set and plan to add a mini vignettes onto each board. For example, I have a safety poster up on the wall with blood splatters next to a pool of blood where it looks like someone got dragged away. I have a little warhammer 40K rule book i'll add to a corner somewhere. I'm looking for some other ideas of little things I can add to my ZM tiles:

Ideas so far:

Blood splattered safety poster
Console screen painted up to look like missile defense with a little atari controller
Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer with discarded lasgun and helmet
Copy of WH40K rule book
Forgeworld website on one of the screens
Got some spent brass coming from Secret Weapon Miniatures

Add a small bathroom. Never understood how you can fight through miles of tunnels, aboard gigantic spaceships or inside cyclopean factories and never one see a restroom.

There's always the proverbial Weyland-Yutani stickers you could put somewhere.

A grate with creepy red eyes, or a clawed hand slowly retracting into it.

You could do some old propaganda spoofs, instead of "If you see something, say something" you could do an Inquisition poster "If you see something, think something". etc.

A playboy-esque magazine with sisters of battle in it?

I might be misunderstanding what ya need buuuuuut.

More wires, servo skulls, control panels, book cases, security door operational panels, circuit breakers, gun and ammo racks, power armor stations? (would be cool to have one on a harness like fallout) power relays with electricity effects or glowing plasma stuff up against the wall. murals in like a monastery area. power armor back pack charging ports? I pod charging port? probably some power outlets. ahhh soo many random things :/

Oh and scented candles. you need tons of them.

Thinking about the board as a ship that requires functionality might provide some inspiration for you. Physically, there need to be bunks, a mess hall, cookery and washing facilities; not to mention oxygen processors, carbon dioxide scrubbers, water reclaimers and other sci-fi stuff.

Then there's the function of the ship. If it's a research vessel, you could have a chemical storeroom, labs and a servitor-pit. A prison ship would need security panels, cameras and vid-screens... A troopship would need lockers, gymnasium equipment and separate officer's quarters etc. Picturing those will doubtless throw up some good props to add

However, it's not just about stuff that you need to build – you can also think about what would be on the walls: signposts and directionals – perhaps coloured lines on the walls that lead people to medbay or the officer's quarters? Public spaces like bus stations and hospitals will also provide some good ideas – fire extinguishers, light switches, wall plugs, vending machines, pot plants, public refuse areas and defibrillation technology are all existing technologies that are mounted on or near walls – let your imagination guide you and you'll soon come up with lots of stuff.

More specifically:
– Discarded servo skull
– A removed panel with cables spilling out.
– Lost post?

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

and an emergency eyewash station for more than 2 eyes...

Here's some nice accessories from Spartan Games... http://shop.spartangames.co.uk/SearchResults.asp?Cat=2072 they're a little pricey but then so is the ZM!
Maybe good inspiration either way.

These are more affordable and still good from Scotia Grendel... http://www.scotiagrendel.com/Products/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=227_220

Some of the stuff you see on classic FPS maps? I’d go old-school like Doom of Wolfenstein, but modern stuff could work.

Health gems, first aid kits, armor ups, guns (BFG, and I’m not talking about battlefleet gothic), chainsaw, etc.

You could model foes from those games wandering around.

Cheat codes scrawled on the walls. IDKFA, up up down down left right left right B A.
