Curse you GW for making Marines on 32mm bases! I like how they look, but it'll be such a pain to try and cut my models free...1) some of the models have some extensive basing work, and 2) a good number of models are pinned extensively onto the bases, so it won't be a simple cut of the xacto to release. Dakka-ites, is it worth the switch to 32 for Space Marines, both from a gaming and aesthetic perspective? Would it look gakky to paint up and decorate a 32mm and paste the model that's on the 25mm on top?
I have a few wobbly characters that I glued the 25mm base onto a bigger one and they look ok, astorath is on a 40mm and lemartes on 32 both just with the 25mm glued on top. It looks cool for characters but I wouldn't do it for normal marines.
Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.
FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.
I've based and rebased about 200 marines now onto the new bases and it's pretty easy once you know what to do.
For normal marines that don't have a tab on their feet (i.e. Metal) just cut away the rim of the 25mm base and file the bottom smooth. Then glue onto a 32mm base and apply basing material around edge to match pre-existing base.
For metal models I found I can actually just cut a slot for the tab and glue them down the same way. Pinned models shouldn't be any different, just line up pins and drill holes before gluing the base onto the 32mm.
Here is a pic in which you can see old marines on 25mm bases that I've de-rimmed and glued to 32mm bases (two models on the left).

@Joyus_Oblivion: those look mighty awesome and it solves the issue of retaining any base work done...but I have to ask was it a pain to cut the bevel? Did you use a dremel or any other specialty tool to get such a clean cut?
@Breotan: sweet adapters! Are those the Secret Weapon ones? Did you have any issues with a poor fit or any gaping? I imagine there would be a seam at the join, but is it a pretty good fit from what you've used?
It's actually really easy to cut. I didn't really worry about it at all. On some I used a sharp exacto blade and just cut away the rim. Others I did use my dremel when the plastic was older and more brittle.
You don't have to be super accurate either as you file the smaller base flat to glue onto the 32mm and you'll be applying basing material around where it joins together so it will hide any imperfections.

They fit well and there can be a little flash but a quick hit with a nail file will make it vanish. The side shot of the base shows where the join is. There was an obvious line but one hit with a file made it disappear. Once they're painted you can't even tell. Unless you're really horrible with nail files, that is.

I might pick up a few of these too. Be good for the metal guys and scouts i have left to rebase. Not fancying all that pinning...

Good to know!
last I checked, Eccentric just made odd little knights. If I didn't already have a bunch of 25mm scenic basses for my Blood Angel rebase, I'd strongly consider these.
Quite a Bargain!
Did you use type A or B?
