So, I'm looking for a source for a large exposed hot rod type engine. Something like the ork trukk engine, but bigger.

I could probably try making my own, but the best thought I have for it is just a block covered with random tubes, which I think may or may not come out well.

Anyone have any suggestions on sources for big looking model engines, or tips for making your own?

Have you tried regular model car kits? A 1:24/1:25 scale model will probably have a big enough engine, espacially if its a V8. Or you could try trucks to get a bigger engine.

The good thing about this is you'll get an accurate engine - headers, carbs etc. You might even be able to get a fat blower on top if you get a kit with custom options.

Dark Angels/Deathwing - just getting started!
Space Marines - Stark Crusaders 4500pts/PL244 (2700pts painted)
Eldar - Biel Tan 2000pts
Space Wolves 1500pts

You can find aftermarket parts for model cars and planes, they often have resin engines.

Aftermarket resin parts probably aren't the cheapest option, but you'll find some insanely detailed engines if you look around.

25th scale cars or 32nd scale aircraft have decent sized engines. You might get nicer headers off a car engine.

On ebay you can find a lot of engines which are a bit cheaper from people who bought models that come with engines but they closed the bonnet/cowling and so didn't use the engine. Search for "1/25 engine" or "1/32 engine", if you know a specific engine name it might get you closer (eg. you might be able to find a 1/32 Rolls Royce Merlin from one of Tamiya's 1/32 WW2 fighter series).

Some V engines you could cut in half to create 2 inline engines without too much work, depends on the engine.

That was a very solid suggestion, thanks! I looked on ebay earlier, but all my searches kept getting vehicle options, and actual V8 options, but the 1/25 addition really narrowed things down. Thanks.

OOh, more good suggestions. Thanks, those also look tempting.
