Subject: How much would it cost to build a real life AT-AT?
We were once so close to heaven, St. Peter came out and gave us medals; declaring us "The nicest of the damned".
“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”

There's actually a 6-legged logging mech in actual use, and there were tests of a 4-legged walker being conducted back in the 60's. The latter never got beyond testing because people back then weren't use to joystick controls.

For the modern military, an AT-ST (chicken-walker) would make more sense and have more uses. An. AT-AT would likely only make sense as a rough terrain transport in any area that would be difficulted to get in tracked or wheeled vehicles.
A "real" AT-AT would likely be mostly unaffected by mortar or RPG attacks thanks to armor thickness, and the gyro system should protect it from being knocked over except from a sustained bombardment.
Course, at this juncture, getting it to function on par with a Star Wars version wouldn't be possible - you'd be better off with an Abrams tank.

an F-35 would be able to take out AT-AT's all day long, its armor would protect it from most RPG/Mortor attacks but against Missiles it would be an utter fail plus its neck joint would be susceptible to 20mm rounds cutting a swath thru it, it looks pretty and looks awesome but very impracticable and a colossal waste of money.
now if it was made for getting thru rush hour traffic, it would be awesomesauce.

Someone actually built a life size one in their yard a few years back. Looked cool as hell. Lucas got wind of it and his lawyers handed him a cease and desist order and had him tear it down. Obviously did not actually walk.
So current cost to build would be time+ Materials+ research+ permits + cost of Disney's approval. = alot
If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

don't see how Lucas would have any say in regards to it, unless the guy was selling tickets to see it, if he made it for himself to look at and admire, that is protected by the law. he just can't make money off it or give it away or such.
ok just checked he ran it as a KickStarter so that might be a no no too:

The more surface area you have, the more area you have to cover in armour. There are reasons tanks are as small as they can possibly be. An AT-AT will weigh upwards of 1,000 tons, or it will have chicken wire for armour.
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I agree. To be properly armored that thing would weigh so much I'm pretty sure it would sink into the ground and tip over. Or be so lightly armored you'd punch through it with little effort, and considering the size, hitting it be broad side of a barn type of easy

That's why we'd install void shields, duh

If we're talking "full-scale model", don't forget the AT-AT "statue" at Hollywood Studios out front of the Star Wars ride. Though I suspect that thing is made mostly of plywood.
As for "real" AT-AT, I was referring to an in-universe vehicle ("That armor's too thick for blasters"), as opposed to an "actual" AT-AT, made of modern materials.

Could protect it with a trophy system, and phalanx system, active defense, and plate with same as tanks use as passive blow out panals to deflect a missile cutter head.
It could be like a walking ac130 with a elevated double gun deck, machine guns and bofors etc.
Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.
