Hey guys. So I finally decided to play WH40 after 4-5 years of collecting... I know right. I know the basics and I'm about to play a couple of games with another newbie. We're to make a couple of 250 points lists and fight it out. Would appreciate it if you helped me build at least one Rules are similar to combat patrol, so no more than 2 wounds on a model, no crazy unique characters etc. Any ideas ? I got a couple dozens of Guardsmen, a leman russ tank, a commisar, heavy weapons, special weapons etc. He's playing Tau.

Well, I don't think you can have a Leman Russ, as it's armour values are too high for a KT game.

I'd reckon a couple Veteran squads with Chimeras would be great for a game this size.

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

i would agree here, though i believe taurox will serve you better than chimeras.

Cheaper, faster, more fire points and better turret weapon.

All anyone wants in the world is to be accepted. Except me, i don't give a S%@t.

Not according to my codex

Lasgun Str 3, shoots once at 24" and twice at 12"
Shotgun Str 3, shoots twice at 12" - may assault after shooting

Since IG are rubbish at assault, that's not a great benefit. Same strength and you lose the single shot at 12-24"

On another note.... meltas are pretty much ONLY used for penetrating high AV vehicles.
Since you're not likely to encounter high AV vehicles in small games, personally I don't think they're very efficient (only 1 shot, short range)
I am no where near an expert, but I'd choose flamer or plasma.

If you look at my 200pt Kill Team roster currently in this subject, you can see my thoughts.

Hey guys. The rules changed to 200 points, building a roster with Kill Team Battlescribe. As neither of us have many elite models etc. I was thinking about 2 veteran squads with grenade lanchers. They are decent shots and 6 GL with krak will negate tau fire warrior saves. I could take a sentinel with heavy flamer to fill the rest of the points, as it also negates the armor saves. We'll be playing on a small board, so I should be able to use everything easily. Also the sentinel can charge in to lock 1 tau squad.

Bump. Got 3 lists

List 1
2xveteran squads with 3xgrenade launchers each, auto cannon in each and carapace armor in each. Remember, that some Kill Team rules apply but not all of them. So squads still move together, no special rules for certain models etc.

List 2
2x veterans squads with 3xgrenade launcher each and vox caster each. No auto cannons and carapace but a heavy sentinel with heavy flamer.

List 3
Infantry platoon with 3 squads and a command squad. One of the squads and command squad have voxes. The 3 squads combine at start and receive FRFSRF for 60-90 shots per turn.

What do you guys think ?

Hi,

Since no-one ever replies to Kill Team posts, i would like to help someone who needs it.

So, i played KT the other day with the following:

Platoon CMS
- 1 Plasma ( Master Craftsman )
- 1 Plasma ( Reaping Volley / Expert shot 1 of the 2 )
- 1 Leader with Boltgun

Platoon
- Heavy Bolter ( Eagle eye )
- 8 Men

Platoon
- Heavy Bolter
- 8 Men

Still have some points left on what you deem necessary.
With this list i completely dominated an Dark Eldar list, Astra Militarum really benefits from having many bodies. I strongly suggest you try out an list with bodies instead of Mecha.

Also orders just work on 1 guy, not the whole squad.. so just make sure that you know what order to give to what guy.

Thanks for the response. I was unclear before - we're playing with some team kill restrictions but mostly this is a combat patrol. So you don't get single soldiers with special rules for points. Basically the only Kill Team limits are 200 points and unit limitation which Battlescribe provides, so no leman russ, hq etc.
