Hey guys I'm starting to paint up a small tau force and need some help in which you think is the better colour scheme to build up. On the left model I used more of the base colour in the darker areas and doing a finer highlight in the raised areas and tau symbol being the usual white and black. On the right I used more highlighting and a bronze tau symbol highlighted with runefang I know the one on the right is a bit more sloppy first paint job in a few years lol

TBH I prefrer the guy on the right. Although I may be biased with painting my own Tau Force in Vior'la Sept colours

Think your right I like the bronze symbol it's a bit different from the rest, but I like the finer highlighting and shading that I done on the left. Cheers thanks for the advice, maybe I can get started properly now lol

Outer Space, Apparently

The right one is definitely better - the one on the left is too dark to make out any definition since it's sheer black.

Having a whole shoulder pad dedicated to the Sa'cea Sept colour can be overpowering if the whole squad has it - it's more suitable to put on the Team's Shas'ui so you can see him from a distance, unless the Team has a special battlefield role, such as being an Ethereal Honour Guard.

Hope this helps

If you're talking about the white, it's not the actual dress uniform of the Vior'la Sept - their home world colours consist of putrid green and bone to reflect Vior'la's acidic nature. The only thing that remains consistent in the armies of a Sept is their Sept colour.

Still, all of what I said here is just the lore Nazi in me talking, so take my advice with a grain of salt

Personally I have to say that I myself prefer the miniature on the right as I think it is more visually striking and maybe a bit of bias from being a Vior'la fanboy. One thing I would like to say is that the orange may overpower the white on the mini. Using a blue paint like Stegadon green with the orange would really break it up and add nice contrast to the mini.

Hoping to get a Blood angel army after finishing a mighty Tau empire army.
