Hi all,

This will probably not be in the correct forum so apologies firstly.

I've been playing a campaign now for some months. It's Guard and Marines vs. Necrons. We intend to finish with some apocalypse sized games.

Does anyone have any interesting scenarios or rules they've played and had fun with while playing apocalypse games?

Thanks

Dave

In my apocalypse group we have a couple of rules:

Time limit: you get 20 minute to move, 10 psykic phase, 20 minutes to shoot and 20 minutes to assault.

points limit: 4000 per person (2500 of your 4000 can be used for LoW, SH, or GMC)

Anything goes. We allow anything that has rules either old or new, but you must use whatever is the latest rules. We got a player that likes to bring a space laser fortress from time to time. That sucker is awesome.

Also, have fun with it.

Armies:
The Iron Waagh: 10,000+ 8th Edition Tournament Record: 4-7-1
Salamanders: 5,000 8th Edition Tournament Record: 4-2
Ultramarines: 4,000
Armored Battle Company (DKoK): 4000
Elysians: 500
Khorne Daemons: 2500

I feel an important factor for Apocalypse is actually not trying to win. Sure, a victory would be nice, but I find win or lose it is usually a blast to play. Also not being strategically sound can be good too. For example, my most recent Apocalypse game I found Pedro Kantor shaping up in a challenge against a Bloodthirster. Was that the best decision? Probably not. Was it awesome? You bet it was.

As for missions, a simple attack defend scenario works well, with ideally 3 objectives in the defender's deployment zone, and the attacker has to take them. Delayed deployment could be used for the defender (not all the army is deployed 1st turn, so the attacker has a chance to cut deep into the defenders).

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

Also use the catastrophic event rules for maximum fun. It is rather entertaining when whole parts of the battlefield just break away and give the battle a new and chaotic turn.

What's a space laser fortress? It sounds awesome.
