Spoiler:
So I have not read the book yet, but evidently Dorn kills Alpharius.

Any one have any info on this?

I mean, you should read the book, but..
Spoiler:
Yes...
Omegon then takes over as Historical Alpharius.

Just like all the other times he dies...

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Seriously - read the book. It is one of the best in the series.

Spoiler:
Yes he does kill Alpharius. Omegon takes over for him in the epilogue. But that chapter also confirms that the true Alpharius was indeed killed.

Spoiler:
I am just really disappointed by this turn of events. A killed by Dorn and O killed by Roboute Guilliman. Do we even get to see Alpharius in action before he is killed? Do we learn any more about the XX's mysterious past? The FW Heresy rulebooks mention nothing of Omegon anyway, not sure about how much to accept as canon anymore. If Dorn reported slaying the XX Primarch's death why did RG seek out Alpharius to kill yet again?

I see it is on preorder on Amazon, where did ya'll find a copy? BL? It's darkly humorous. I picked up the AL way back in 2nd Editon because they were the most "unknown" Legion. The least was know about them and thus more left up to my personal discretion. As a vague picture gradually developed down through the editions I generally liked all the fluff developments; mostly redefining the idea of the :"Most Unknown" Legion. Of course also the cultist factor, which eventually became the most defining factor of the AL. More and more the idea of the AL moved away from the latest editions of 40k, models and rulewise, in my opinion. The new 30k books shed new light on the legion which affects their identity in the 40k arch (ARE they loyal? etc.). If they are closet loyalists AND the CSM codex is gak why not use codex SM? At first I saw 30k as a fresh start for my AL and I welcomed it. But more and more the AL seem just like a big write off. The big secret is...they're super secret! Anyway just venting really.

Spoiler:
In the end, it is more likely that it was not the real Alpharius due to how fluidly members of the XX fill that role. Remember, the twin Primarchs were Astartes-size, and they routinely had taller Astartes of their legion stand in as Alpharius. Also, either Alpharius or Omegon was Janus.

Spoiler:
Plus the Alpha Legion had psykers that were able to transfer the Conciousness of A/O into a Legionary (Can explain the whole "Feels the death of his twin" thing) So Alpharius got Merked by Dorn, But not Really, As he was just using a Legionary as a 'Host' and he didnt tell Omegon about it (Fake His own death for FURTHER Infiltration?) Hence why Omegon Felt his Death and assumed his death (Plus if a Legionary drinks some of A/O's Blood, They gain their Powers Ect)
