Your list is perfectly legal, in fact you could take as many ADs from the same Faction as you have points for.. The only restriction on ADs is that they must be a different Faction than your Primary Detachment, and can never include your Warlord (which is redundant, since your Primary detachment is always the one with your WL). SO as long as you have a detachment that can have your WL, and no AD share that faction, you can have as many ADs as you can fit But why not just use a CAD of Daemons? It would require 1 less HQ, but gain you access to 1 more Elite/Fast or Heavy than using 2 AD You can take Multiple CADs, like so: KDK CAD - WL here CSM AD Deamons CAD This is perhaps the reason you never see 2 ADs from the same Faction, because there is no point over just fielding a second CAD. In the case of Daemons, you would only roll the Warpstorm table if the Daemon detachment was your Primary (which is will not be since your WL is KDK) -

I don't believe so. I don't have the book in front of me, but I'm 95% certain that if you check the section on Allied Detachments, you'll see that it says that an Allied Detachment cannot be your primary detachment, and cannot be the same Faction as your Primary Detachment or any other Allied Detachment.
EDIT: Someone with the rulebook should check this though, Galef said otherwise, so now I'm not as certain.
----> EDIT: Someone with the rulebook DID check this, and Galef is correct! Wow, I really thought this wouldn't be the case!

I remember it as it only cannot be your Primary Detachment. Nothing says anything about another Allied Detachment.
However in most cases if you need more than one Allied Detachment, people just take another CAD instead; on top of losing the "cannot be your Primary Detachment or the same faction as your Primary" it also gives you more FA, HS and Elites slots than two Allied Detachments, while having less requirements (two ADs require 2 HQ and 2 Troops while a CAD requires 1 HQ and 2 Troops).

Then you don't need the CSM detachment at all, maybe not even the KDK one. Daemons have bar-none the cheapest/most useful Troops of all Chaos: Nurglings 12 wounds with 3+/2+ cover saves for less than 50pts? Yes please. Oh, and they can Infiltrate onto those objectives You can literally just field BTs and Nurglings for a legal list. 5 BTs & 6 units of Nurglings should fit into 1750pts. If you really want to avoid the Warpstorm, I'd say use a KDK CAD with 1 BT and 2 Cultist units as your Primary, but take the other 3-4 BTs from Daemons. KDK cannot take Greater Rewards which GREATLY improves their durability. -

Looking at the BRB (well, a little RB), page 118 is the detachments page, and it does not state anything contrary. I'd have to agree with Galef.

I don't want the best army, just one that isn't an exercise in picking up my models by turn 3.

If I had 100 + Drukhari kits all in plastic to choose from, or 100 + Sisters kits, I think I'd be more likely to be receptive to Space Marine player's complaints about anything.

How bout taking a rengades CAD as primary, a mutant rabble/infantry platoon is only 30 points and the command squad 45. That would allow you to take half the amount of nurglings by spamming ADs.

If it's for fun, then just go Unbound. You can fit something like 6-7 thirsters into a 1750 point list.

Technically Unbound is following the rules. It sounds more like they prefer the 6th edition army building method.
Regardless, for maximum amount of BTs, go with what Galef said. 2 squads of nurglings and then BTs out the wazoo.

Yes it can. It's a type of detachment that doesn't have a restriction saying it can't be. And Assassin detachment (don't have it's official name off hand) can be your primary detachment, though assassins make kinda crappy warlords.
