so I tired to search and I cant really find much info on this. what are the common magnet sizes people use? i'm looking to magnetize the new bloodthirster arms and wings and maybe the base it self. I just don't know gak about magnets lol. I've found a right up that shows what's need for the bloodthirster and it seems simple enough it just doesn't list what magnet size I need to use.

any help would be appreciated. I'm assuming amazon will have the magnets.

I use 0.125" x 0.03125" (3.2mm x 0.8mm) disc magnets for magnetizing Space Marine and equivalent arms.

Based on the write-up you linked to, that is probably what they are using on the Bloodthirster.

The most common magnet size I use are 5mm x 2mm disc magnets. I get them strong. N50, or N52. Don't bother with N35, they are too weak.

The 2nd most common size I use is 3mm x 1 mm disc magnets. Those have to be really strong. At least N50, though N52 or N54 work best.

There are lots of other sizes you can use. A blodthirster is really big, I'm almost certain they are using the 5mm magnets on it. They might be 4mm.

Magnets are cheap. I strongly recommend you buy a few different sizes to have on hand. This is what I'd recommend:

I've bought magnets from that seller a bunch. Look around at the sizes. You might want something that is really big (12mm x 3mm ring) or something that is oddly shaped (6mm x 3mm x 2mm bar). Just remember you don't want anything weaker than N50 until you get fairly big (bigger than 5mm)

It depends on what you are doing. The bigger magnets tend to be stronger, the smaller magnets, obviously, take up less space and are easy to hide. I would suggest trying to use the largest magnet you can get away with, as having bits fall off during games is annoying.

I think I'm going to order the 5x2 and 3x1 size and go from there. I have the bloodthirster built as far as I can go. so anxiously waiting to finish it now!

Yeah, this. As big as you can hide them.

I use 3x1 N45 on Space Marine shoulder joints and 2x1 N45 on Space Marine wrists.
On my Ogre Thundertusk, I used a 5x1 N45 on the arm for vulture/chaintrap.

For a Bloodthirster I imagine you have to go bigger/thicker.
I wouldn't even try to make magnets work as a connection between base and Bloodthirster. Use a screw and nut instead.
