Yeah, this. As big as you can hide them.
I use 3x1 N45 on Space Marine shoulder joints and 2x1 N45 on Space Marine wrists.
On my Ogre Thundertusk, I used a 5x1 N45 on the arm for vulture/chaintrap.
For a Bloodthirster I imagine you have to go bigger/thicker.
I wouldn't even try to make magnets work as a connection between base and Bloodthirster. Use a screw and nut instead.
