I don't play AoS. I have Daemons for 40K, but AoS hasn't really picked up in my area.
But I recently bought a box of Spirit hosts for a 40K conversion. I only needed 6 individual spirits and I was gonna use the other 3 anyway.
But then I realized that I could just paint them up and sell them.
Since I have 3 spirits left, I could build 1 base to sell, but I actually have lots of extras left, including all 3 of the Skeletons that the spirits are coming out of.

So my question is, would it be legal to have Spirit hosts with only 1-2 spirits per base, but with lots extras and the skeletons with spirits beginning to form?
Basically I will have 1 base with 2 Spirits coming out of 1 skeleton with the candles and grave stone on the base,
The other base will have 2 sketetons, 1 with a full spirit looming tall, the other with a long wisp coming out of it. This base will also have 2-3 other wisps coming out of the ground (for my 40K conversion, I had several "tails' left over from the other spirits)

The idea for the conversion is that, being ghostly, the Spirits are not always visible. So while each base has 3 wounds, you may only see 1-2 Spirits at a time.
I just want to find out if there are any rules issues that would dissuade potential buyers. I am a fairly decent painter, so these will be fully painted and should look really good once finished

-Thanx

Legal? Yeah, sure.

Pretty? Not so much, Spirit hosts have 3 wounds equals 3 ghosts. If you're okay with it, do it. But if you want to sell it, I'm not sure you will get a good price for it.

Well I guess the important question is: will 2 bases converted like this get even a little bit more than 1 non-converted base with 3 spirits? if so, it's worth doing.
I figure each base is worth $10, since a box of 3 is about $30 after tax. Factor in the free shipping, free assembly and free paint job, and I should have no issue getting $20 for both of them.
Worst case scenario, I can use 1 of the spirits I am using for my 40K conversion (I only really need 5, but I'd prefer 6), so that each base has 2 Spirits and plenty of extras on the base.

I know back when AoS was Fantasy, plenty of VC players would use just grave stones or skeletal hands coming out of the ground as fillers for block units. That's part of what inspired this idea.

Unless you are selling a model that is NIB or sooo well painted that it is a proper professional level of work you will be losing money and will probably only get 50-60% of the retail value for your conversion (might be even less if it less spirits then normal per base)

That's what I thought at first, but apparently someone was willing to pay $20 for both. I finished the models and posted them to eBay yesterday and they sold by morning.
Considering the cost I bought them at ($22 including some 25mm bases for my 40K conversions) and the cost it will ship (about $3), I'd say I came out pretty good on this, basically breaking even or only spending about $5 for the models I am keeping for my Daemons.

I'll have to get some pics up to show you guys the finished product
