5 Scouts w. 1x combi-grav

5 Scouts w. 1x combi-grav

5 Tactical marines w. Razorback

Fast attack

Stormhawk interceptor w. icarus autocannon

Heavy support

Relic Sicaran

Your ideas would be welcomed!

I'm never sure about SM HQs....

Welcome to Dakka and the Space Marines.

Librarians are a solid all-around pick. I’d invest in the 2nd mastery level, most of the other upgrades are to taste.

All the sternguard have c-meltas? You are probably going to want to combat squad out and try to pop two tanks. Hope there are two valid targets near each other. I might just run 5 with the combis.

You have a lot of troops, but very little mobility. The scouts do have a number of deployment options, which does help with this. But I might drop a squad of scouts to pay for a LSS for one of the other ones.

Also, as you have plenty of troops and the slots to burn, rather then 5 naked tacs in a HB razor, those points could get you a pred.

I’ve not seen much about the hawk, but it looks decent on paper. Not sure what the Sicaran comes with stock, but I’ve only heard good things about them, so you should be fine there.

Overall you should be OK. Most of your heavy AV fire is front loaded on the sternguard, but you have some backup in the hawk and sicaran. Mid/late game mobility is going to be an issue. Depends on how competitive a game you are heading to, but you should do fine.

Thanks!

The razor and 5 mansquad is to band with the Librarian, otherwise i don't know where to place him...

The 3 scouts are for the formation...

If you split those scouts off for a 10th company TF, you no longer have the 2 troop picks necessary for a CAD. The only time you can have units count for two formations/detachments is the meta-formations like the Gladius that contains sub-formations.

One option for the librarian would be to take a 9 man sternguard squad and have him fill the last seat in the pod. He’d be there for buffs, which is a good thing, but would prevent them from combat squadding (as they would not be a full 10 man squad). It’s a tradeoff.

Tweaked the list a lot, played the game, result was good:

Iron Hand

HQ

Librarian w. terminator armour, melta bombs

ELITES

5 Sternguards w. combi meltas, DP w. homer

5 Terminators w. hvy flamer

TROOPS

7 Scouts w. camo cloak, combi grav

5 Scouts w. LSS, combi grav

FAST ATTACK

Stormhawk interceptor w. Icarus Stormcannon

HEAVY SUPPORT

Relic Sicaran w. Sponsort hvy bolters

The overall result was great, Scouts performed as expected, the LSS was a great asset!

The HQ and his droogies was another story; they didn't do much... Were stuck in a part of the table where they werent optimal...

I'm thinking of switching them for a Librarian on a bike with command squad (APO, FNP 4+, storm shields)

As always, your suggestions are most welcomed!

If you're looking to cross between this and 30k, I would consider cataphractii terminators instead. I have tried out both variants and just find that the twin-linked bolters are more favorable (because you can still rapid-fire then charge... so you get your two shots, and they're twin linked). Plus, the 4++ is much nicer IMO.

I like the concept of dropping the sternguard pod with homer for the terminators, but instead maybe take a captain in cataphractii terminator armor instead of the librarian, give him the homer, then swap the sternguard for devs... maybe multimeltas or heavy bolters... once the captain joins them in the pod, they can move and shoot to full effect because he confers slow and purposeful... then your termies show up on him, he joins and leaves.

Plus, I think those models will all be more useful in 30k.

Not sure what the Stormhawk is, or how much it costs, but my go-to flier has been the Fire Raptor. Perhaps if the Stormhawk is the same price (approx. 2.25 thunderfire cannons it would be another option?

Hope that helps

I wasn't aware you could do that! thx for the tip! It's the cataphractii that confer the S&P rule?

It's the new SM flyer! Very cheap (less than 2x the cost of a naked techmarine lol), it comes with 3 guns, Icarus Stormcannon (S7 AP4 HVY 3 Skyfire, Interceptor), TL Assault cannon and TL hvy bolter....

Hope that helps

It did! TY VM!

Nice. We both learned something haha. Yeah, the Cataphractii Terminator armor gives the Captain Slow and Purposeful; the rule itself states that it confers to the unit.

It solved all my "what HQ do I take?" questions when I don't take a chapter master on a bike lol No more generic librarian wasted choice

Let's talk about bikes...

Is it wise to fit a Librarian on bike w. a command squad on bike? (IH gets the FNP bonus to 4+ thx to apo+chapter)

Can the command squad on bike take stormshields and should I?

What other bike oriented suggestions do you have?

At low level games, I recommend a 4x grav bike squad with the libby. Until you hit large games where you wanna add an unkillable CM, maybe a conclave, etc. you dont' wanna invest in all cc (although at that level, 4x axes will work well.. you just drive and flat out and jink everywhere until you hit combat)

What table would you roll on for psychic powers?

Probably just the new powers for re-rolling failed saves, or else maybe div, depends on what you see on the table.

Hello again!

Small game tonight vs Eldars, 1k pts

He's gonna play an autarch on bike with missile launcher, a big squad of guardian with either the barrage or bright lance platform, perhaps a wraithlord and either a hemlock or spam some aa weapons.

He's a vet player...

HQ

Librarian w. mastery lvl 2, bike, force sword

ELITES

5 Sternguards w. combi meltas, DP

TROOPS

7 Scouts w. camo cloak, combi grav

5 Scouts w. LSS, combi grav

4 bikes w. 2 gravguns, attack bike (hvy bolter), combi-grav

FAST ATTACK

Stormhawk interceptor w. Icarus Stormcannon

HEAVY SUPPORT

Relic Sicaran

I still have 44pts to spare: what should I get?

I switched termies for bikes since I want the Librarian to be on the table on turn 1, I will try to take out any wraithlord with the grav gun and/or charge massive infantry...

Not sure about the psychic powers; Librarius or Biomancy?

I'd drop the Attack Bike, doubt it'll be especially useful against the targets the Grav-guns are shooting at. I'd pad out the Sternguard unit with more guys. I think your scouts might have more luck with combi-meltas if you want to outfit them at all.

Command Squad with Apothecary is very strong and can run up to 5 Grav-Guns.

No problem! I would say, in general, at 1000 pts you won't see many flyers, so the Stormhawk might be overkill — it can only shoot ground targets at BS3 I believe. I would run it with a Las-Talon instead since that can shoot ground without having Skyfire built in (can only snap shoot at ground targets.) I'd also take the Skyhammer, seems a lot better than Heavy Bolters for 5 pts.

Are your Scouts all using Bolters? Might want to consider Shotguns on the guys in the LSS, they can shoot and charge out of it since it's open-topped. Sniper Rifles might be good on the other guys with camo-cloaks if they're far away from the front line.

Yes they are using bolters, they usually disembark and hold objective...

Snipers you say? That could be a good thing if i can squeeze the points out... I'm using legion recon squad for my scouts...
