Hi all,
I've recently started building my blood angels army and have quite a few models to paint (start collecting box set + an assault squad)
And was wondering what the mephiston spray was like? I understand how to use the sprays, (lots of shaking, not too close etc) but what is the colour like after undercoating chaos black?
And also once you've got an even red coat can you just proceed to paint as normal? As in drybushing, shading or layering straight onto the spray coat?

I can't say anything about the difference of using it over a black basecoat (probably darker), and I'm not sure if it's an undercoat itself (i.e. you can skip the black and straight-up start with the red can). Hopefully someone else can chime in on that.

I can say that the idea at least is that it's the same colour as the GW paint pot (i.e. if you find you've missed a spot with the spray, using a brush + pot should result in the same colour, just less smooth).
Once it's on and dry, yes, you just continue painting as normal, applying washes, highlights whatever. It just saves you a bunch of time in doing the first coat (and makes it alot smoother).

Hmm, hopefully it does match the pot colour.. i have around 20 marines and a predator to build so a nice uniform base of mephiston would be awesome, especially with the speed that the spray would give me.. in theory any ways!

When it comes to coloured spray, if you find one you like then it is a good idea to get a bunch of them.

Generally, your undercoat colour will slightly change the basecoat colour. Black primer darkens, white primer lightens, and grey primer generally provides a more "true" colour.

I think the Mephiston red spray is close to the Mephiston red pot, but there will probably be some difference in terms of tone just because of the application method.

Army painter matched their Pure Red primer with a brush on paint, so that might be an interesting alternative.
