So my current list is as follows:

They did OK against a 2xSpartans full of Terminators Sons of Horus list, but The transports having to hang around for a turn before my assault felt a little too precarious.
Kakophani were of limited use with so few squishy targets (everything was AV14 (plus flares) or 2+) but having 2 shots each and being relentless plus their bio shock rule seems like it should be of use against lists that aren't just termies.
When the assaults did happen they were murderous with a silly amount of AP2 on the charge.

Not sure where to take the list from here, but still concerned about the delivery method/transports for the melee units.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would personally prefer to have fulgrim and the terminators in a spartan, but this makes for a very expensive unit that can cost upwards of 900 points.

At 2500 points, you have very few models on the board. You can probably take out a few of the terminators and palatines to get another troop in there.

Get rid of the rhinos and give those kakophani an apothecary each.

Just to give an example of an alternative to a low model count Emperors Children list here is my 2500 Maru Scara List (leaving points and small upgrades out cause I'm lazy):

Praetor
Centurion - Herald
Centurion - Emperors Champ.

20 man tactical squad on foot with apothecary
20 man tactical squad on foot with apothecary
10 man tactical support squad in rhino with volkite chargers

2 contemptor dreads in a talon
2 man apothecary detachment (with the tac squads)
1 quad launcher with splinter and shatter shells
1 contemptor mortis with 2 assault canons

1 sicarian
1 vindicator laser destroyer
1 leviathan siege dread with claw and siege drill, and a phospex discharger


Not sure what models you have access to, but this is a good example of the amount of bodies someone could throw at you. (or you at them).

Doesn't that make them more vulnerable and limit their ability to get up the board and into position fast ?

I tend to max out the termies because the meta here is chock full of big blobs of termies in spartans and the unique thing about the EC is their melee on the charge, so I want to ensure a quick 1st round victory (with the resolution buffs we get) then get into another combat asap, as we only get the AP2 on the charge.

Perhaps I'm misreading the intent for the army.

I'd run a maru skara list, but rolling for the outflank board edge means 1/3rd of the time I'm not where I want to be.

That looks like a big old foot slogging list. I tend to want to play with the more unique units, truth be told, for each legion, tho I know in a lot of ways the EC units are held to be some of the least powerful.

I have 6. I have tried them a few times, but so far I'm a bit underwhelmed.

Have you though about getting a 20 man assault squad with an apothecary? That could be a good fast moving unit to support your Spartan and a good place for Eidolon.

I thought about it and 20 assault marines are cheaper than 10 palatines with spears, but they would either be AP- or with power weapons would be I1. Not a great match for Eidolon who hits at full initiative on the charge. Plus the spears are AP2 and not unwieldy, so on the charge even terminators are gonna save less of the wounds. I've not done all the maths, but I think damage output from less the spears is better then a std assault squad. Tho obviously 10 men is less survivable than 20.
But perhaps I'll add an apocathary to the blades squad to help with that.

Do you only fight 2+ armor opponents? I would send the assault squad after things with 3+ armor and keep the paletines/termies on their 2+.

Eidolon is there to challenge their artificer sergeants etc.

There is a lot of it about here... my regular opponent is Sons Of Horus, he takes almost all termies in spartans with kheres contemptors to help out.
