Curious what you all think the grey knights will get for formations when the grey knights get the decurion treatment.

Judging by GW's distain for Ward's legacy codex, GK might never see a decurion of their own. But if they do, it will most likely be slightly worse than the Blood Angels lastest codex update.

It could be anything from +1 to deny rolls if you field 9 full terminator units as a core or all stuf casts on a 2+. These formations aren't exactly build on the same power lv. Also who knows what the game even looks like in half a year.

Any daemon player you mention this to should immediately shed a tear. I they do not they not they are probably not human and may be an actual daemon, back away and contact the Inquisition.

Im wondering if we are going to see a dreadknight wing: 3x dreadknights. It would be the end of the rest of the codex and it would truly become codex: dreadknight.
I would like to see something that makes purgation squads usable and useful again.
With trends, I could also see a charge out of deep strike formation, or charge after shunting formation.
I would also expect a psychic shenanigans formation. Just please... please... dont make the core formation 1000+ points like you did the guard GW.
I wonder...

it'll proablky be something that requirs 3 strike squads, 2 purifer squads, and allows you to take maybe 1 GKT and 1 DK

If they want to do a "Battle Company" approach (Battle Brotherhood?) It'd be
Grandmaster OR Brother-Captain
0-1 Brotherhood Champion
2 Strike Squads
2 Terminator squads
1 Purgation Squad
1 Interceptor Squad
0-1 Dreadnought
If you take two and one contains a Grandmaster and the other contains a Brother-Captain (and probably a restriction that you can only bring 1 Brotherhood Champion, that or make Brotherhood Champion a Command choice so it's the logical pick to complete the decurion) you get... no scatter deepstrike? Harness warp charges on 3+?
The free Rhino approach doesn't really work for our M.O., so who really knows what we'd get instead.

Judging by the recent Ork, BA and SW mega-detachments one of the Core Formations (and/or the Detachment itself) will have the same bonuses as their current unique Detachment.

You can't really fit all of that into an 1850pt list, which automatically kills it as playable in a Gladius format. To be successful, we would need smaller formations with aggressive benefits.

Gladius doesn't work for GK because they are already expensive. There isn't any real answer.

Where is the bonus for this "Demi-Brotherhood" itself then? All wargears upgrades are free? 1st turn Deep Strike? Obsec? Re-rolling warlord trait? "Bane of the Daemons" (always hit models with Daemon special rule on a 2+ in shooting or close combat) ??? Automatically Appended Next Post: I do think the GK codex in 7th is not very well written. The DreadKnight and Draigo and Probably the Lvl3 Librarian and/or Interceptor are too good compared to other unit. Things like Strike Squad, Terminators, Purgators and maybe purifiers need some formation bonus to offer a reason of being brought on to the Table.
I would not deny that GK is awesome when being taken as an ally, such as the infamous Draigo-Tiggy-GravCenturion Star. But they need something buff them to become great in running in their own.

It would most likely be the Nemesis Strike Force bonuses (1st turn deepstrike) plus the ubiquitous warlord trait re-roll. Obsec would be nice, though.

I can see the Greycurion going one of three ways.
1. (The Ork / BA aka lazy treatment) Basically the core formation rules are the same as Nemesis Strike force and benefit for taking the mega formation is a slightly better version of the core rules. Probably trying to shoe horn in units that nobody wants (Dreadnoughts, and Purgation squads without relentless).
2. (The "we actually care" or "power creep" treatment) - Useful and potentially game changing special rules such as army wide having Force active at all times or deep strike + assault. Shunt and charge Dreadknight / Interceptors
3. (The pigeon hole treatment) - Special rules make them even better at killing Daemons but does nothing to make them any good against 90% of the other codexes out there. GW being oblivious to what GK's actually need and follow a bone headed fluff driven design.
40% chance for #1, 15% chance for #2, 30% chance for #3. 15% chance they just forget GK's exist and don't release anything for them just like they ignore Sisters of Battle or Inquisition.

I think they should be reinforced in the aspect of dealing with Daemon FMCs. Now they almost have no answer to Daemon Flying Circus. Maybe something like any FMC within 12inch or 18inch (Psychic sherik distances) must immediately take a grounding test?

Have Banishment force grounding tests or something - or would that make it too strong?

It is very strong in "anti current meta". FMC is one of the strongest current Daemon winning (over Grey Knight) factor. Imho it is also fluffy. Use it as one formation benefit is attractive for me to make me pay a few tax unit

as someone with a GK army I'd rather wait for a new codex before giving GKs a "decurion" strike squads and purgation squads need some serious attention.
