Why do so many Tau Hunter Contingent List not include the Command?

Do people feel Coordinated Firepower is bad?

The command slot requires a commander and bodygaurd, meaning the commander cannot join another squad until all bodyguards are dead.

And at 10 point per model more than a base crisis suit it is more of a tax. If doing the crisis star bomb then it may be ok to take.

I don't see any rule that forces you to have your Commander join the forced Bodyguard. Your Commander can join any unit he wants.

I absolutely do agree that the one Bodyguard you're forced to take is a small tax. However, his tax is due to being a Shas'Vre. You could take advantage of this and maybe give him, idk...
Neuroweb and have him lone wolfing around being a nuisance. Maybe a Failsafe and have him be a suicide bomber? or just ignore it, accept your minor tax and give him a few normal guns.

In exchange, you give your entire army Coordinated Firepower.

huh? IMO, people only need one buffmander, and that is handled by the commander you have to take in the core of your cadre.

Right...? This isn't really about the Buffmander or Buff'vre, it's about Coordinated Firepower.

You only get Coordinated Firepower if you bring the Contingent Headquarters that forces you to bring another Commander (or Shadowsun), and 1 unit of Bodyguards.

I think being able to increase BS of your army by 1 just for focus firing is a pretty awesome bonus. However, most Tau lists seem to forgo it.

And again, i'll say, huh? Whatever gave you that idea?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The contingent headquarters is 0-1. The only things you must bring is a Hunter Cadre and a single Auxiliary choice. The cheapest of which is a unit of drones.

Absolutely, It's not required to have a Contingent Headquarters . It's optional if you want Coordinated Firepower.

I'm just shocked that most Tau players don't want it. It's like one of the better benefits of Hunter Contingent.

Edit
Coordinated Firepower benefit is listed under "Command Benefit", meaning you only ever have it if you bring a Command. The only listed Command is Contingent Headquarters.

Wrong. It is the benefit gained if you select that particular detachment: the Hunter Contingent.

I cut out rules text to hopefully it will be alright to post this.

I think it's pretty clear cut.

"COMMAND BENEFITS"

Then it lists what is a COMMAND with the Skull Symbol with a Circle X. Contingent Headquarters is the only one with that symbol.

You may wish to read 'Command Benefits' (pg. 121, main rulebook). Its not what you think it is.

The bodyguard being purchased with the commander used to form one squad. This must have been removed when the bodyguard got own entry and I never noticed otherwise for the contingent hq. This changes a list I made for a campaign I am participating in.

Command benefits have nothing to do with the command choices in the detachment

*Command benefits* are additional rules that apply to specific detachments. Take the standard Combined Arms detachment for example; it has Command Benefits that allow you to re-roll the result on a Warlord Trait table and your Troops choices get Objective Secured. However, there is no such thing as a *Command choice* in a Combined Arms detachment. Apply the same logic to the Hunter Contingent; Command benefits apply once you take the Hunter Contingent and are in no way associated with the Command choice. They are entirely separate.
