...that I just had while telling someone on the WoW General Discussion forum to be patient and let the developers get back to him. This revelation will mean more to those on this forum who also enjoy MMORPG video games, but it's ultimately about 40k tabletop so I wanted to post it here. If any of you are or were long-time WoW players, you might particularly find this.. something.

Sisters of Battle have not received any new miniatures... since vanilla WoW was still in Alpha testing.

I know you're all sick of hearing me complain about Sororitas not having new models, blah, blah, blah, so I won't .

I just wanted to share that revelation with you guys. As a long-time WoW and 40k TTG fan I found it a bit mind-blowing, and I thought maybe some of you might too.

No complaints, no whining, nothing else, just sharing that revelation with y'all.

Well, see ya!

And most of the line is older than that

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Personally, I was around 14-15 years old or so and my symptoms were starting to get bad, and I'd already had one suicide attempt. Since then there was about another year of degeneration, following by an accurate and quick diagnosis, followed by tests to confirm, fiddling with medication for another two years, being deemed stable with my recovery having plateaued, being referred back to my general practitioner, starting on more meds, getting on disability to have an income to contribute to the household, a few years of pretty good life, and then the 3-4 years of ongoing relapsing.

If you were wondering what I just described, it's the progress of my schizophrenia over the past 13 years. Literally everything I described took place in the time since Sororitas got their last new batch of models.

I guess they most likely don't get new modals because they sell horribly.

Sisters of Battle are actually older than some of the players playing them I'd imagine.

You know what might make them sell better?

If they were priced competitively to other armies.

If they had plastic infantry. (some gamers really love metal minis, but the vast bulk prefer plastic for the bulk of their collection at least)

In other words: Plastic Sororitas being released would probably improve Sisters of Battle sales.

The real question is, will GW be able to release plastic sisters without making it Codex: Hooters Adeptus.

The plastic Immolator and a large number of their Superiors were released in 2003, actually.

Outer Space, Apparently

A very interesting observation, Pouncey, and a sad realisation I think too.

I'd very much be interested in a Sisters army in the future, if it were ever to come to fruition.

Still, let's not start another Sisters "discussion" thread while we're still ahead. The last one was far from insightful or helpful to anyone.

Really? I thought that that was very, very basic and generalized info. Are you sure that it's not just TMI because it's a mental illness? I mean, if someone gave that kind of detail about their recovery from breaking their leg, would it be TMI then?

Because honestly, I was kinda raised to treat psychiatric health problems no differently from health problems regarding the non-brain parts of the body, and I got schizophrenia so young that I can barely remember what I was like before it.

We appreciate you taking the time to explain yourself Pouncey, but there's never a need to justify yourself anecdotally with these kinds of things on a forum where everyone's real name and identity is concealed from each other. Hence the comment of TMI.

Actually, I described what I did because I wanted to add a bit to the first post and provide another example of how long it's been. Maybe I picked a bad example, but I thought that describing how much my schizophrenia has changed since Sisters of Battle got their last model update in 2003 would provide a similar kind of "whoa" moment. Apparently I was wrong, so I'll drop it.

Though I want to mention that regarding the need to justify myself, well, frankly I've been accused of faking my mental illness by people online before, and as weird as it sounds there are still a very large number of people who believe that mental illness is not even a real thing.

I had another thought about Sisters of Battle though. Not regarding their neglect, but kind of a silly idea that popped into my head.

You know how common it is on Dakka for polls about armies to leave out Sisters of Battle as an option, right? Like, it's actually surprising when someone on Dakka makes a poll including every army they can think of and Sisters of Battle are actually an option on that poll. Most poll-makers kinda forget the army exists until someone posts to ask them to add a Sisters of Battle poll option.

What if someone made some sort of meme image about that, and themed it around Monty Python's famous Spanish Inquisition line, only it's, "NO ONE remembers the Sisters of Battle!"

Would that be a good idea?

I think 'suicide attempt' caught me off guard. That's not something I'm expecting when browsing a hobby forum. Everyone has their own level of openness though, and their own level of involvement on forums, so I'm won't pretend that it's officially TMI, just that it was more than I was ready for.

The idea that I'd find it more bothersome because it's a mental illness as opposed to a physical injury is interesting though. Probably I do, such is the power of stigma. I'll probably be mulling that one over for a while. So hey, openness leading to some critical examination of social mores can't bad, right?

It makes for a good time ruler, certainly. Certainly not necessary to strengthen what you're saying, at least in this case.

Though I want to mention that regarding the need to justify myself, well, frankly I've been accused of faking my mental illness by people online before.

You don't owe it to anyone on the internet to explain yourself on a personal level, unless those personal issues are being choreographed in what you're saying in some way.

That being said, we frankly have no evidence or reasoning to prove or disprove your claim. We'd only know if we knew you in real life. Until that time, I'd say you're believable.

and as weird as it sounds there are still a very large number of people who believe that mental illness is not even a real thing.

It's called not being educated. Or empathetic towards others.

I think SoB are deliberately left out a lot of the time due to their significance in any meta or rule discussions being absolutely negligible due to the quantity of people who actually play SoB.

What if someone made some sort of meme image about that, and themed it around Monty Python's famous Spanish Inquisition line, only it's, "NO ONE remembers the Sisters of Battle!"

Don't know if memes and good idea belong in the same sentence

I would say no, but others would probably find it amusing.

Yeah, sometimes I can't believe time has gone when I realize I bought all my Sisters back in the early days of 3rd edition, when my Immolators were metal front, side door, and top plate bits that you put on Rhino chassis (and 1.0 Rhinos at that).

Ah, sorry.

It happened in 2003, so for me it's old, old news.

And mental illness being discussed openly is a pretty recent thing. Certainly within my lifetime. There was an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the first one with Barclay. Clearly he had anxiety problems, yet because of the time period the show was made in, the word "anxiety" was never uttered by either Dr. Crusher or Counselor Troi, and no anti-anxiety medications were prescribed, nor was there any mention of brain surgery to correct the problem. Essentially, because TNG was made in the 1990s, mental illness was so taboo that they had to write the story such that 24th century medicine had never heard of the concept of anxiety disorders, nor developed any chemicals capable of alleviating anxiety, nor done any research into possibly using nanites to correct the issue in the brain itself.

So, yeah, if you were born before the 80s, people talking openly about mental illnesses would probably be pretty bizarre.

While most factions have a couple of casts that are very old, the age of SoB casts is reflected across their entire range; it's a lot more severe despite the casts being younger than the ones you listed.

Demiurg would be nice, considering they're in BFG now. I would like the BFG tabletop game to return as well with that in mind, but that's a story for another day.

But the problem with Sisters is that it's their core models, not a random special character or special choice.

The closest thing is probably Goblin Wolf Riders as they are also a core choice (though in an army that has tons of core choices), the goblins themselves were a bit old in tooth but the wolves themselves have a copyright date of 1992 on them.

The Space Wolf characters are also pretty old, I think they go back to 1993.
