So I have been reading through the Angels Blade book and the Blood Angels devastators have been given grav cannons. The book mentions updating Blood Angels to have the newer space marine profiles. Have I missed a section where Blood Angels tacticals can take grav cannons or are they not allowed to add them in tactical squads. Thanks.

AFAIK BA have heavy flamers as unique heavy weapon choice and cannot take grav cannons to tacticals. I would gladly use a full grav tac squad.

The only place Blood Angels can take Grav Cannons is in a Devastator Squad. Period.

You can't assault after using a salvo weapon, so heavy flamer makes more sense.

After reading your comment, my knee-jerk reaction was gonna be that you cannot assault after firing a Heavy weapon either.
But then I remembered that heavy flamers are not actually Heavy.

Gotta love "heavy" flamers and "assault" cannons. Confusing newbs since the 90's

I frequently call them assault flamers and heavy cannons to remind people.

Assault Cannons are understandable, as they're commonly either in Dreads or Terminators, which can both assault after firing them

Aren't most Blood Angels Assault Marines anyway? I thought that was their thing. Jet packs.

I guess I was thinking about them from a fluff standpoint. If you gave your assault marines Grav though, they could still assault.

Idk how viable that is competitively as my army doesn't even know what the hell grav is...

Jet Pack Infantry have Relentless.

Jet Pack: Jet Pack units have the Bulky, Deep Strike and Relentless special rules.

Relentless: Relentless models can shoot with Heavy, Salvo or Ordnance weapons, counting as stationary, even if they moved in the previous Movement phase. They are also allowed to charge in the same turn they fire Heavy, Ordnance, Rapid Fire or Salvo weapons.

We have jump packs, not jet packs.

If you are thinking fluff terms then no most BA's are NOT assault marines. BA are still codex chapters. Companies 2-5 do most of the work and have 60 tac marines, 20 assault marines, 20 devastators. Then you have 2 reserve companies of tacticals, 1 reserve company of assault marines and 1 reserve company of devastators. Plus the veteran company. So you have 440 tactical marines, 180 assault marines and 180 devastator marines. HARDLY most of BA's are assault marines. In fact they have as many assault marines as they have devastators!

This.

However, it just so happens that they have enough jump packs to supply the Chapter if they needed to, and that their jump pack training is more intensive than other Chapters, in such a way like the White Scars and their bikes.

They/them

Old codex had them actually vary from the codex astartes(as opposed to just being codex red marines with fast tanks and 1 extra tank); assault marines were troops then.

Now they are basically just adeptus astartes with black rage, baal predator, and no centurians.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

They are all trained and have a natural ease with Jump Packs. When a Battle Company is low, their Assault Marine squads are filled first, even having brothers transfer from Tactical and Devastator Squads to fill it up.

At least, that's how I remember the current fluff on it.
