Thoughts on this list I threw together? The thinking is two close in squads in pods that can put out heavy pressure and hopefully mop whatever she left up in melee. The 3 shield guys in each are to hopefully survive the return fire on the way in. Snipers camp a point. Corvus just because the model is cool. Dread because it was cheaper than another squad to fill in the last points. Maybe drop turn 2 or 3 to hurt a thing.

I would say drop the Lightning claws from your sergeants, you may find power mauls more useful for the points.

Also, if you're going to assault with those squads your vets don't have anything that counts as a CCW, so they have no attacks in melee.

Lastly; you should take the Watch captain out of Command, put the dread there instead and put the captain together with one of the Aquila teams in a strategium command to give them FNP.

Good point on the strategium.

I thought any model could attack in assault regardless, they don't get strength modifier said or additional attacks, but they get their base profile. Am I mistaken? Not great but assaulting was only if the close range shots don't finish something off, so hopefully.

I may be mistaken on the CCW thing. gotta re read the BRB

Automatically Appended Next Post:
OK I was wrong, just checked the tome of wisdom and it says that any model that is not specifically listed as having a melee type weapon is treated as having a CCW, strength user, no AP value

ah, good. I was hoping that was the case. I switched the lightning claws to a power maul.

I also am thinking if I magnetize right I can take those two main squads and swap them from shotguns+frag+heavy flamer to bolter+inferno bolter+assault cannon and have them come out to exactly the same points(by removing digital weapons from the sarg.) This way I can easily plug and play between CQB squads and more medium distance ones.

I have no idea if the bolter/shotgun + shield will be effective at all. I feel like it should be as model counts will be low in a deathwatch list and surviving return fire after dropping in should be key. But mainly ever since i've been into warhammer 40k lore i've always thought it would make a lot of sense and be really cool lore wise if there were space marines who used a gun and a shield.
