Hey guys, I'm fairly new to X-Wing and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with FF's support. I bought the Millennium Falcon on Saturday and, playing the first game with it Sunday, one of the posts broke. All I was doing was moving the ship and all of the sudden it fell off the base and I saw a piece of the post sitting on the table. I put in a support request through their website and I;m wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what i should expect. Thanks!

It's certainly longer now Asmodee took over, but when I was missing a dial's screw, they answered within 3 days, it took about as many weeks to confirm shipment and then usual post delays.

Ugh, I hope that I don't have to wait 3 weeks for this, that would be insane

When you say the post, you mean the clear cylinder that fits into the base to elevate your ship off the board?

I think it ought to come with 2 normally. One is sufficient, or as some players do, you can fit the ship directly onto the base. Not as sexy, but at least the ship is on the base.

I wrote to them not long ago about a broken ship part, and they got a new one out to me within about 2 weeks.

If it's just the peg then you can also buy those separately now, if you need one in a hurry. It's also quite handy having spares.

Right, it's just the peg, and not only did the one break, the other one cracked. I'm going to use it with just the one for now and I did super glue the broken one, so it should get me through; I was more wondering if anyone thought I'd have an issue getting these replaced from them. Thanks for the replys!

It's probably easier to just spend a few dollars on a set of the colored bases (which come with pegs) instead of waiting around for a new one. And once you've been playing for a while you'll accumulate so many extra pegs that losing one occasionally doesn't matter.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Yeah, but these are the pegs for the YT-1300, so they are very different from the standard ones.

Update: Asmodee already emailed back that they have shipped the pegs to me today. As long as they sent the right ones, that was awesome.

Right, they haven't made the big bases in the coloured plastic yet, eh?

But honestly, I have so many lying around that I don't know what to do with them. If they send you the wrong one, PM me and I'll mail you a couple.

What really sucks is when the ship's connector cracks. Then it's time to magnetize.

If memory serves right, the extra base and peg packs do come with one of the bigger ones in each

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

They do, I have bought six packs of the colored bases so far.

Out of curiosity, how do you guys end up with spares?

I've been playing for a while, and I have at least one of almost every ship, and I have zero spares. Every ship came with exactly the right amount of pegs to mount that ship. I had to buy a pack of bases to mount my custom stuff.

Incidentally (back on topic) I can also attest to the fact that the coloured (and uncoloured) base packs, come with a large base and large pegs. You get 1 large base, 4 small bases, and two of the respective pegs for each base, plus spares. I think I got one large and one small peg spare, I'm not sure if that is normal, or just luck.

You will seldom field more than what 8 ships at the maximum?

Once you own 9 ships, you have spare unless you're big into Epic play.

Well I guess it depends how you organise your stuff. I don't really like detaching ships from their peg, because that seems to be when they are most likely to break. As such, I keep all my ships assembled in the display cabinet, and I've organised my carry case so the ships fit in assembled (at least the small ships).

Also, I've become a little obsessed with streamlining the set-up and pack-way times for my games. Ship assembly is one of the biggest time sinks for setting up x-wing. Since I've been leaving my ships assembled, it's far quicker to get them out and get a game going. If I need to change the insert, I always pull the peg away from the base. I've also noticed the size of the pegs aren't consistent, so once I find a peg that's a good fit for a ship (i.e. doesn't fall out during games) then I generally like to stick with it.

Even if I didn't like to leave my ships assembled, I don't think I'd consider the pegs "spare", as if you ever wanted to sell stuff, you'd potentially end up with fewer pegs than ships... not such a big deal now you can buy the coloured pegs, but before that it would have been a nuisance to find replacements.

Sell the pretties? Are you mad?

I went the exact opposite of you, but my set-up time is record fast. I pre-assemble all the necessary components in spare baggies (and we have a lot of those!) So I have the precise number of shields, focus, etc, in a bag with all the cards (upgrades go in the pilots' sleeve) I cut up felt inserts under 8 bases for each faction, and 3 large bases per faction, and only use those. The bases and pegs go in another baggy with the dials and I can usually set up inside of 2 minutes.

I only saw a pack of the colored bases once, a couple of weeks ago at the game store I go to and it looked like just the small ones. I guess I should have researched them more before replying, but that would have made sense . I already had to glue a connector back to the bottom of one of the TIE Fighters when that broke off.

What I've taken to doing is separating the pegs themselves and leaving the one in the ship and the other in the base. This seems to work best for me.

Haha, I usually talk myself into buying more x-wing stuff by convincing myself that I can always sell it again for a decent price, providing I keep everything in good condition. So it's really more of cash flow issue than a spending issue... I have never once sold anything, but I need to maintain the illusion.

With regards to set-up time, I had a few bad experiences, inviting casual friends over to play games (not just x-wing), and then spending over an hour trying to sort everything, and get things set-up. The result was that people got bored, and then we barely had time to play before everyone was too tired and/or drunk. I think it put people off wanting to play again, because they think it's too much upheaval. I found that I also wasn't playing my games enough because it was hassle. After that I decided to really streamline my games so that everything is always ready to go. Sometimes I go a bit over the top, but I think it's worth it, because I get more games in now, and my girlfriend is also more inclined to play when everything is easy to get out, and tidy away.

I'm big into baggies for sorting my stuff: I buy them by the thousand, but I have noticed that they can also be a bit of a faff, simply because it takes time to rummage through, and get stuff in and out of the baggies (longer if you don't need everything in the bag), and then they create mess and clutter around the game. It might not sound like a big deal, but I like everything to be clockwork, like a pit-stop crew.

I've found the best things are the plastic compartment boxes, even though they take up a bit more space. I like ones where you can easily get the lid off its hinges (so you don't need to keep opening it). I keep all my tokens, dice, and base inserts organised in one of those. When it's time to set up a game, I just put the compartment box on the table next to the game, lid goes under the box, and then it's pretty much ready. If you need a focus or stress token (etc...), just reach in and grab one as you go.

The ships are already assembled in the cabinet or case, and the templates are in a pencil jar, so they just need putting on the table. About the only thing that takes any time is getting out the dials, and collecting the shields and inserts that you need, but that's fairly quick when they are already organised on the table.

I don't generally have the luxury of a ready-made list, because we tend to play lots of scenarios and smaller games (50-75 points), depending on time and what people feel like playing, so I need to keep all my upgrades well organised. To that end, I've made my own little deck boxes out of stiff card (again without lids, so it's easy to slip things in and out). I have one deck box for ship specific upgrades, such as modifications, sensors and titles, and then three more boxes for EPTs, Weapons, and Crew/Droids (respectively). I've found that it's best not to over-compartmentalise components, as that just means more rummaging about in different places, which takes up time, so I lump things together where convenient. All the decks and pilot cards fit neatly in one of the core set boxes, with the original inlay.

I haven't really found a good solution for the dials, so I just keep them in baggies in another core box (one bag per faction). The empire bag is a bit annoying because it's overcrowded with tie-fighter dials, but I'm not sure what else to do with them honestly.

Yeah, I tried that for a while, back when I was still keeping my ships in the core-set box, but then I found a pick & pluck hard-case, which was deep enough to perfectly fit small ships vertically (without removing the base), so I don't need to take them apart now, other than to change the inserts.

Is that a KR case? It looks perfect for tourney play.

I'm almost like you. Like I said, I keep everything for a single list in one baggy. Plop it down, it's all ready to go, and the baggy is actually in my pocket. I have a friend who keeps stuff in cases, baggies, boxes and sometimes drawers. And as you said, he keeps drinking and talking, then forgeting what he was looking for... drives me nuts. I'm there, across from him, completely set up, sipping my tea and he's like " 'nother glass of scotch?" 0_o

It's just an aluminium flight case that was on sale at Maplins in the UK: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/small-flight-case-with-foam-interior-n50fu

I only paid £13 for it, which is the equivalent of about $13 US

Which will be about 20$ CAD, then shipping, and VAT and import duties. No, I'll see if I can find it here.
