I'm sure the question might be yes, however like the subject says did legion squads have a mix of armour types in their squads? Or where they usually all the same mk? Reasoning is for my death guard army. All of them are the mk. IV from BAC but now with this Burning of Prosp. box set we finally get MK.III!! I am doing DG so I feel like they loved using MKIII for its ability to endure a lot of abuse. Was wondering on this and also which MK would fit DG best and if I could mix and match in my squads for gaming.

Yes, all legions used more than one armour mark at the same time, so all legions had some squads that had a mix of armour marks.
For DG, MkIII was their preferred mark before the Heresy, so they should have a lot of that. They used plenty of MkIV and during the Heresy MkV as well. They probably had MkII as well, but I do not recall ever seeing an illustration of a DG Marine in it. The only mark they would not have used at all is MkVI (altough they may have looted a few suits on Isstvan).
Aesthetically, the DG is one of the legions heavily associated with MkIII (as are the IH, IF and IW) so if I were to make a DG force I would stick some MkIII in every squad.

40k-logic is mostly about Rule of Cool.

Ask yourself: "Is it cool if they have mixed armour types?" If the answer is yes, go ahead!

If you want an in-world motivation too keep the suspension of disbelief: I believe the legions would have the same logistic challenges as all armies have during extended campaigns. Damaged gear would have to be repaired and replaced with whatever was available. And old armours might have to stay in service longer than intended because new gear were scarce. Or personal preferences might well be considered more important than uniformity. So I say go ahead and mix.

The thing is, even though it is easy to imagine a mix between Mk II and Mk IV since they came as standard, it's not the same situation with the MK III who never reached full implementation and was never supposed to due to it's specialist armor status. It was only used in specific situation were the thicker armor plating in the front would prove more beneficial than overall mobility. Therefore there is no real point to use it in a mixed squad since you want to match the mission parameters to the fullest. The exception would be the sergeant who through his access to artificer armor would emulate this increased protection and therefore wear a different Mark of armor. Not to mention that as an artificer suit of armor is a custom handcrafted piece of equipement, you can't afford to just give two of them to a single sergeant, and would therefore provoke said mismatch, even though he could still switch to a regular Mk III suit.

But we know in practice, that isn't what happened. Units made use of whatever armor they might've had available and individuals certainly had personal preferences for particular suits of power armor, regardless of of mission parameters.
