Subject: Space marine Kill Team: Bikes or Attack bike?

I am building a Kill Team for my kids and they like Space Marines, which I do not play. I have a Tactical squad, but I would like to add some mobility to their list
So what is better? 3 Bikes with a couple special weapons, or a Single Attack bike?
3 Bikes will give more models to be in more places, shoot at more targets and is 1 more wound than the Attack Bike. The Bike Sgt may also be a better leader than the Tact Sgt
But the single Attack bike is cheaper, allowing me to take more Tactical and can have a Heavy Bolter for range (and I think Heavy bolters are actually good in KT)
Any thoughts?

(I’ve not read the new KT rules, so this is a theoretical)
It seems like the attack bike might get more milage out of being a specialist. It’s got more guns, more wounds, and more attacks on a single model. So the benefits you give via a special rule can go farther.
Both seem like they would work just fine. The attack bike is more concentrated, they regular bikes let you cover more ground. IMHO the pros/cons are closely matched, so you should default to what you think looks better.

A possible downside is the special weapons available. I like Plasma guns for the bikes, but Gets Hot! can be pretty devastating (it already has killed a Tactical Marine we've been playing with), Melta is overkill and we aren't using any vehicles in our games yet. And I think flamers are not very good in KT because you will be luck to get more than 1 model under the template.
So while the 3 Bikes would be a more versatile choice, the Heavy Bolter Attack bike has a weapon I want to use.
Man this is a hard choice, which will probably come down to what I can get cheapest.

Awesome, so I took another look at the Specialist rules and decided that 3 bikes are probably best (and cheapest since I can get Dark Vengeance bikes easy on eBay). I can give 2 of the Bikes Plasma guns, giving 1 of them Preferred enemy (Guerilla) and the other Master Craftsman (Weapon specialist). That will almost eliminate any Gets Hot! rolls. Then I can take 1 Tactical Marine with a Heavy Bolter and give him Relentless (Indomitable) so he can deploy hidden and move out to fire. The Bike Sgt would be the leader. So the list would have 9 total models, 3 Bikes & 6 on foot. Thanks for the help guys. Now the question is how do I paint them? My current Tactical unit is here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/706033.page So obviously I will paint 1 Ravenguard bike & 1 White Scar Bike, but what should the 3rd bike be painted as? -

Crimson Fists? I'd say they're the most important chapter still missing... Alternatively Blood Ravens if you're a Dawn of War fan!

When I played killteam i found flamers to be exellent because they ignore cover, and lots of models rely on coversave in killteam because they assume there will be a lot of cover.

I got my bikes today. I decided to magnetized 1 Plasma/Flamer for future use. That way I can either take 1 Plasma/1 Flamer, or 2 Plasma, or even 2 Plasma & 1 Combi-Flamer on the Sgt. Thanks fof the feedback on the paint scheme. And yes, Crimson Fists were missing from my collection, but not anymore. I converted a Heavy Bolter Marine (with Relentless) for my KT, so he has to be Crimson fist. For the 3rd bike (the Sgt) I am going with Guardians of the Covenant (DA successor) since it will go well with the robed biker. The bonus is that I don't have to remove as many of the Ravenwing markings since they are essentially DA's. The White Scar biker will take a bit more attention though.

I'd go with the attack bike, and keep a heavy bolter on it. Then, make it the Indomitable Specialist with Feel no Pain... that's gonna be one really nasty unit that can pick off lots of little models (scouts, gants, boyz, etc).
Also, with a 3+/4+ jink, T5 and 2 wounds... that's going to pull the attention of most of the little stuff in the enemy army. You can then get much more mileage out of the tactical squad with a special or heavy weapon in a rhino as some specialists, while the attack bike distracts without fear of dying easily.
In killteam you really don't want to invest too heavily in one model.
If you find you don't need the FnP on it, or can get away without it, try out Reaping volley... that's a lot of different targets for a heavy bolter/bolter attack bike!
