WH40k takes place a scant 38,000 years in the future. That's not even remotely close to the billion year mark when Sol becomes hot enough Earth is no longer capable of sustaining life as water has permanently boiled off.

No, if you want to see the death of the universe, you have to wait tredecillions of years until energy in the universe is so thinly spread that stars can no longer form and eventually all matter decays.

Besides, the Imperium is limited to the Milky Way. There are trillions of other galaxies out their with their own technologically advanced civilizations that the IoM is not even remotely capable of affecting in any way.
