Ive been looking around the web for some inspiration for some colors on my necrons and one thing I noticed is that alot of orbs on peoples kits seem to have a very glassy look to them. This is more than just a simple gloss coat but im not sure what kind of paint would give such a look on the orbs. Any advice on what paint to use?
An example would be like this that I am refering to.

They are glass marbles.
IF you trying to paint one for like a rez orb, i find painting it black, make some swirly with a light green, then go over it all with Tamaya Clear Green. it goes on glossy.

Second.
Those first pics are deff glass marbles - you can see the shadows of the material behind it inside, so they are translucent.
Otherwise, gloss varnish or the GW gemstone paints should do the trick depending on what you want to do as well.

Sadly the gemstone paints are limited as im looking to replace all the green with a purple color, and while those gemstone paints look interesting since there isnt a purple i cant really use them. I will see how a gloss varnish looks on it.

Just mix your own, Red + Blue = Purple. I mixed up a whole bottle of purple by buying a blue and a red, roughly figuring out the proportions on my palette and then just pouring one in to the other bit by bit and mixing it in until it got to the level of purpleness I desired.
I prefer Tamiya's acrylic clears to GW's gemstone paints.
Do the blending by brush as best you can then hit it with a layer of tamiya clear of the correct colour and it should look good.
