Hey mates. Will be playing a 2000 point game today against the new Genestealer Cult with my Elysian Air Cavalry list and just wanted to get some feedback from those who have played against them. Do they have any reliable anti-air units at all? And when going against them, what is the most common and effective build for their army list at this time? Never have gone against them so I would appreciate any feedback on them.

By themselves the cult have virtually no anti air beyond firing wildly into the sky. Anything you put on the ground is probably dead instantly and if you hover you will die. There will be like no drawn battle lines and watch out for the -1 to reserves they have. My advice is to try and secure areas through mowing down hordes of them at a time. Flamers and high ROF weapons are your friends.

Basically what was said. already.

If it's pure Cult then they'll just be shooting blindly into the sky with nothing but hopes and prayers. All sorts of anti horde tools are highly useful, the heaviest duty stuff you'll want is going going to be tools to take out light vehicles. Understand that their units are extraordinarily mobile, can possibly replenish, and also almost impossible to force off the board; you'll want to focus fire until a squad is totally dead, not near it. You're likely to lose anything you ever drop on the ground.

If they bring allies then all bets are off. A largely Cult list with a flyrant or two for support is nightmarish, or they can also AoC in IG and bring a few hydra.

I've played against them 3 times now.
The list I played against had 2 Flyrants allied in for anti-air/ general killyness.

The hard thing playing against the Genestealer cult is that there really isn't any good way to game plan against them since they can come in basically wherever they want.
Reserving against them is very risky with the -1 to reserves.

One of the things I took away from my game is to make sure and fully wipe squads, don't just leave one or two models since they can go back to reserves and come back out next turn with + D6 models.

Depending on game type it may be a good army to castle up against and plan on a good counter assault.
