Hi guys,

I'm trying to selec t a warlord for the campaign and I'm thorn between the CB and the regular Overlord. My basic items would be Phase Shift and War Scythe.

With an Overlord I would add a Veil of Darkness.

With a CB I would add a Void Reaper instead of the War Scythe.

The main disavantage for the CB would be that it cannot lend it's Ld to a specific unit and if it move away a lot of squads wouldn't benefit from the reroll 1 on RP.

So I gues it's better to field a CB in a CAD for damage and mobility?

And an Overlord in a Decurion to put some Ghost Arks behind those warriors and have a very durable core?

Your input?

The Command Barge is too many points, and highly prone to Dangerous Terrain Test. If it immobilized itself before reaching combat, you are effectively losing a Land Raider level unit in terms of points, that is just not Fun even you are playing a casaul game.....

So don't take it unless you are running Decrion, where it gain move through cover.

Chariots can not be immobilized (p87 mini rulebook). And with the it will not die wargear (cant remember its name) the odd hull point lost is not such a big deal. The com barge is a total tar pit as armour 13 on the front is proof against most cc attacks and the overlord is a tough nut as well. I find that it can really mess with the opponant with its speed and is a threat to most units.

The problem there is, in CC the opponent gets to choose what they hit, so every powerfist and melta bomb is going right into the barge.
That, combined with the loss of sweep attacks, is the main reason you don't really see CCBs used in competitive lists much any more.

So it's better to get a Veil of Darkness if I'm looking for a bit of extra mobility.

Tx for the tips guys.

Not to sound like a broken record but I'd actually be willing to use the CCB again if it did sweep attacks once more. Talk about a counter to invisibility!
