Subject: Magnetic stackable storage solution options?

So, for years my go-to solution has been cramming my models into tuppererware containers. Somewhat recently, I found stacking toolboxes that work nicely for my infantry, but the infantry still is often crammed together.
Some people find that a bit cringy, but between plastic models and sturdy ork boyz, I haven't ever had too much damage to the models or to the paint.
But, I'm going back through my collection to try and touch up some of my models from when I started and to base my models, and I kind of feel that I'd rather not risk scratching my models after all this work. I have noticed some damage, but still it may be time to move on.
I'm not suuuuuper interested in foam cases, as I have a lot of infantry models to move around, so I assume I'd have to spend a fortune on foam cases. I could be wrong, I suppose, if someone knows of large foam cases for reasonable prices, let me know. (For reference, my version of 'large' is ~300 infantry models. I like to bring all my boyz, nobz, lootas, tankbustas, etc. I like to keep my options open.)
But I kind of like the idea of the stackable plastic toolboxes I have.
What I'd love is - stackable metal toolboxes that are ~12" wide, 8" deep, and ~2" tall, so I could attach magnets to my model bases to root them in place and keep them organized.
Anyone seen anything fitting that description? Or have any other suggestions for safely transporting large amounts of infantry?

Well if its a steel box then use a small magnet on the bottom and 90% of the issues are solved. just strong enough to hold them in place.
i think iv used 1/8th by 1.16th magnets though not 100% sure

Yeah, the trick is I'm looking for smallish metal boxes that can stack on each other, hopefully.
Though, to be honest, a foam army case might be a simpler and better option, all things being equal. Any recommendations on large ones?
I'm mostly happy with my vehicle transport option, but I need something to transport at least 300 infantry.

I mean you can do it with tabletop wars case. it can easily hold 300+ dudes and tanks but its also balls expensive. foam you can try Kr multi case as its not as expensive. or otherwise use sabol foam in a case from miniature market but its stlll going to cost ya.
another question would be when are you going to use all 300+ dudes.

I like to bring my dudes with me jus for flexibility. Honestly, I'm looking at the battlefoam cases and they seem really nice. Anyone used them before?

I have like 3 sword bags they are very expensive but the foam is nice if you get them, get it during a sale.

Infantry generally packs really tight in foam. If you use the smallest cell size, you can fit 200 troops into one KRU cardboard box. But even if you use the roomier trays, you can get ~120 guys into a box.

Possible stupid question, but why stop now - when are they on sale, generally?

Are you genuinely looking for a magnetic solution? If so, skip the Battlefoam (have one, not terribly impressed). If you're doing magnet-capable bases I'd look at investing in some of the very cool tray-based cases.
I think there are a few companies doing this stuff:

i know they do a 4th of july sale. and im sure they will do a black friday one too and probably a christmas one.
but in any case snap ware boxs for like 15$ + sheet metal from home depot pre cut + some doublesided foam tape can make you a pretty decent case for like under 20-30$ + the magnets.
iv done it and its pretty easy.

A steel box might be quite heavy. It would be easier to just buy some flexible magnetic sheeting and line whatever box you want with that. You can get this stuff anywhere: http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-8-5-x-11-Flexible-Plain-Magnetic-Magnet-Sheets-Black-set-of-4-Sheets-/112006382212?hash=item1a1419c284:g:~TcAAOSwh6xTuMeO

Just saw an email from Battle Foam that the Black Friday sale will run from the 24th to the 28th. I have a couple bags and I really like them. I've heard good things about KR too, but I don't have any experience with them.
